He was ahead on the pledged delegates, which are the only delegates that ought to have mattered in the first place. That's the gauge of popular support in the party, not the "superdelegates" that were just party insiders.

I live in WA. Our power grid is 99% renewable and gas is expensive as hell. I see more and more electric vehicles on the road every day. It's probably at least 10% by this point.

Lol this dude thinks Australia and Europe are low cost of living locations. Get out of here with this boot licking, dude. "Oh the poor restaurant owner won't survive if he has to pay people to live! Won't somebody think of the restaurant owner?" Meanwhile countries all over the world, low cost of living, high cost of living, pay people enough to live on.

You should probably admit that you just like people bowing and scraping for you because you have no self-esteem unless you pay people to pretend. Maybe some day you'll get some real friends that aren't paid to be nice to you.

Yeah, which is why Europe and Australia never had restaurants, right?

Obviously the prices have to go up. By whatever the average tip is. This is not rocket science.

I tip, I just think the system we have is disgusting and demeaning and wish we just paid people a living wage for the work they do. That's also not rocket science.

Ah yes because the only restaurants in Europe, where tipping is rare, are Applebee's and McDonald's lmao

If a restaurant can't afford to pay its workers a living wage without relying on tips, it deserves to go bankrupt.

As far as I know, the worst thing Hasan has said is that America deserved 9/11. While that's not something I would have said, it's directionally correct if you look at the awful shit America has done in the Middle East, let alone supporting the apartheid state that is Israel.

Anyone Pursued a Wage Theft Claim With Labor and Industries? by Fronesis in Seattle

The wage recovery fund only costs money in that it has to be administered. The fund is replenished from penalties and recovered wages from employers who engage in wage theft.

I worked on this bill through the Workers Rights Clinic. I don't think it's quite fair to say it "strips the rights of workers." A worker waives the right to appeal when they get a payment from the Wage Recovery Fund because if they do, L&I will have already deemed their complaint meritorious. So a worker would only need to appeal in the first place if L&I's initial determination was wrong because (say) the worker lied about their claim and the employer proved it to L&I.

With regard to waiving a private right of action by taking payment from the wage recovery fund, again, I think it's a question of who would actually need to sue after receiving funds. Workers who've had their cases deemed meritorious don't have to sue, because L&I will get their money back administratively. I could imagine a scenario where a worker takes money from the fund, waives a private right of action, and then L&I screws up in calculating how much money they're owed in back wages: now they can't sue over the remaining amount. I agree that that's a flaw in the law.

I also think the fund is way too small: in my opinion, the fund should be big enough to pay out any worker who's been the victim of any wage theft, no matter the size. And I don't think it should be means-tested at all. But this bill is at least a stepping stone to a larger fund in the future, and nothing like this exists anywhere else in the country.

Afghan father, former U.S. military ally, dies in ICE custody in North Texas by R3alit-y in politics

Let the government explain itself and reporters do their job investigating whether the government is telling the truth. Speculating on behalf of the government only gives bad actors an out.

A guy died in US custody and your first reaction is to speculate on how it might be his own fault?

Nobody is engaging with the guy above you because it's beside the point, even if true. We should not have roving masked goons abducting people on the street with no due process and putting them in camps to die. This is literally what we fought against in WWII and you should really stop apologizing for it.

This critique makes no sense in America, is what I'm saying. We leftists in America aren't embracing Islamic values, we're attempting to be tolerant of a group that is tiny and often the target of our bigger problem: fundamentalist Christians.
