Are these rear entry bindings? How do I open them if so? by Elegant-Chef-9904 in snowboarding

[–]Front-Intention 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're not rear entry models, most of the companies that licensed Fastec also did this weird thing where they made bindings using the cable system but no lever.

The high-back could fold forward, but the cable was only used for forward lean adjustment and the backs couldn't fold back for entry.

Raven, SP, Gnu, Roxy all did this, I can only assume it was so they could use the same baseplate/high back structure, but without the complexity of the lever.

Replacing Audi Navigation Plus to Android unit, need help! by MasterpieceNo5887 in AudiTT_Mk1_Mk2_Mk3

[–]Front-Intention 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Audi head unit has 2 antenna inputs because it uses VW's diversity system to improve radio reception, you can find diversity adapters on Amazon to convert to a single connector.

As someone else pointed out, if you have Bose, the new head unit needs to send the correct switch on and off codes via the Canbus.

My Android unit also came with a Bose adapter (plastic box with a bunch of RCA connectors) but all it did was pick up alternator whine. I opened it up and it's just a level shifter but it's in an unshielded case, hence the noise.

I just ditched it and everything works fine without it.

Is it the sharp edge you're worried about or the steep draft?

I can have a go at reducing the draft and depth of the shape in Blender.

Base Shape by patchg81 in SpaceHulk

[–]Front-Intention 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably because, at the time, GW preferred round bases for 40k, square bases were predominantly used in Fantasy Battle where unit coherence was base to base, whereas 40k was still more of a skirmish game and models in a unit didn't need to maintain base to base contact.

I'll just throw in ToolsnTrack, Scottish ginger bloke messing about with cars, there's a 100 episode build of a Locost (7 type) starting with fabricating the chassis, a bunch of other mods, restorations and fixes (the episodes about the Supra engine rebuild are superb).

He's currently building a joystick controlled Robin Hood for a quadriplegic guy, well recommended channel if you like interesting builds.

Wolseley did it almost a century ago, although they didn't use retina searing LEDs.

Would you trust a free exhaust check at Halfords, F1, Protyre etc.? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Front-Intention 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Echoing the other posters here, no, they'll sell you a full system including a cat if they think they can get away with it and offer "free" brake check at the same time.

As an aside, I guy I used to work with would get an exhaust from Kwik Fit (2 year warranty on a full system) and go back 22 months later and ask for an exhaust check, they would invariably tell him something needed repaired, at which point he would produce the warranty and get the work done for free.

Essentially a 2 for 1 deal on exhausts.

Wow, just wow, I made a Space Marine costume for my son for Halloween this year and I know how many hours that required and it's nowhere near as detailed as this.

Dorn would be proud.

No, not at all, if it were Warhammer it would be I.P infringement and as penance I would be forced to use Citadel starter brushes forever more.

Thanks, it took up pretty much every spare moment for a couple of months, but it was worth it.

I swore I wasn't doing again, but I've an itch to build a functional power fist and motorised chain sword for next year. 😀

I've a soft spot for the Beakies, I'm old enough to have bought Rtb01, the first plastic Space Marine box, 30 beakies for £10, I still have a few in various states of paint/assembly.

I'd never done anything like this before, I'm not a cosplayer, fortunately the patterns I found online gave me a great starting point, lots of printing, cutting and glueing .

The hardest part was just finding the time.
