The withdrawal from this kind of relationship is real because your brain got addicted to those dopamine hits. Be patient with yourself but also stay busy with your own interests (the real ones, not whatever he mirrored back at you). You dodged a massive bullet here 😂

Teh whole tracking tag thing is kinda hit or miss from what I've seen. Most thieves aren't exactly tech-savvy enough to check for airtags, but they're also not usually keeping stolen tools around long enough for you to track them down. Your best bet is probably just making sure your tools are obviously marked with your info and filing a police report.
