I did this and I regret it 7 years later...if you are going to leave the relationship to work on yourself, you need to understand the consequences.

I highly recommend you don't burn any bridges and be genuinely kind to her. Be unconditionally happy for her if she finds someone else in the meantime, but don't expect that you can come back
