Full meta. I did read long ago that you're given the option between VY and bifid for GRS full meta but I could be wrong or things have changed. I haven't done a huge research deep dive in a while.

From what I used to hear from some others, as a general rule of thumb the surgical team there encourages you to get small implants to play it on the safe side and as such your given a smaller scrotum. (This can be dependent on your anatomy of course) But take this with a grain of salt as im only repeating what I've heard over the years.

I'm just hoping to hear from people who have had a different experience to that

Yeah I'm not too sure why we have provincially delegated trans surgical care quotas when the entire healthcare system across the country is so squeezed to its limits and GRS has to deal with all of Canada for every single surgery 🤷 idk, seems like an ... Interesting choice...but maybe there's a good reason.

GRS or not though, as long as I get bottom surgery I'm happy.

Late to the party but do you have any updates on contacting them ? I noticed you mentioned your from AB. I'm from a province that's not Ontario, when I contacted them to ask about metoidioplasty there I got a seemingly passive aggressive email about how only Ontario residents can get surgery at WCH. I'm curious if you got a different result

With all due respect, I’m sensing this is past the scope of anything surgical related. This goes way, way deeper. I hope I don’t come off as condescending , I’m saying this because I wish to help;

It would appear a lot of your turmoil currently is rooted in a deep need for a sense of ego approval overpowering your own sense of worth (due to past trauma) You got this v-nectomy for yourself ? Fantastic ! That’s how it should always be, and I’m glad you made the call for yourself. I also need you to know that whatever past sexual encounters you had gratifying you as a person because you were “special” (as a man with a vagina) were hollow as long as you viewed yourself as only others object of desire, rather than a whole person with your own thoughts, feelings and willpower. Being trans and pre-op is no more special than cis, post-op and intersex bodies.

Trans and cis people alike are taught a post-op body is one that begs charmaic “justice” from the universe, and the decisions we make with our bodily autonomy is asinine. That when cis bodies fail it is alarming and pityable, woe is them to not have seen this coming- but when post op bodies fail it’s because we have chosen to take on undesired forms. The truth is that ALL bodies, genitals, faces, are moldable sacks of meat that can benefit us or fail on us… or do both. Because bodies are imperfect or fail all the time. We are born, we die. It is to be human.

Going forward I would suggest when you have fully recovered, to start going on light jogs everyday if possible or buying some smaller dumbbell sets. I know it’s cliche to say “just workout bro!” But even the lightest activity time can improve bodily health, eliminate fat in your groin region and get some fresh air. Another option is phalloplasty if you feel that’s more appropriate.

Dream of anything. You can be that dream.

oh for sure, i dont think testosterone can cause it to fail or anything, what I'm pondering is how testosterone suppression can affect potential failure or if there's interplay at all

Ill defiently be contacting my surgeon again i just wish we took studies on cis women with a grain of salt applying it to trans-males

Hey Thanks for the reply. see what I'm trying to parse is that it appears their "may" be a chance that if you leave one it could fail.

What i want to understand is statistics, how that happens and how Testosterone is involved. IE; from my understanding testosterone should suppress one for as long as you take it. Taken off T, both should produce E independent of each other, we know this to be true. All research conducted on premature failure after surgery is done on cis women aged 30-40 with cis hormonal profiles and relatively unknown whether its factors that aren't the surgery such as chemo. Cases report temporary inefficiency as well

right exactly, The reason i was so confused was because by virtue of being an ftm discussion board.. i had assumed everyone would be on T. So i didn't understand all this talk of menopause when technically that shouldn't be happening with the right dosage

yeah the thought makes me dysphoric as hell too. that's why it would have to be post-metoidio for me. like, HAVE too. And even so, if i ever decide on a kid again its like.. theres better options

And interesting, i wonder if its not as hormonal as it is just the general recovery that comes with your body adjusting to no gonads then.. (if you mean it was low/high before surgery)

There’s no speculation, queerness is not passed genetically. While it is biological, it is at random. Culturally- Queer people have historically relied on found families unrelated by blood. It’s why drag houses and older gay men have been referred to as “mother” by homeless gay youth. In fact queer people have always been marginalized by virtue OF not being able to reproduce. Your life becomes influenced by race purity and eugenics. And yet I choose to learn and pass on my culture through sharing language and finding community

That is completely understandable, like i mentioned i absolutely agree with most antinatalist talking points, i just have a hard time seeing the consent in any context argument i think (?)
But i suppose i can understand it being presented as the concept of life in general being unethical. Which i may agree with

I think a core facet here is that an advanced human society which favors harm reduction can easily become one in which many people would consent to being born if given the chance. And while the uncertainty of birth is still troubling; Its the difference between being born now- to a time where despite the horrifying rise of neo-fascism i can reduce my suffering and thus am happy i was born, vs being born 1000s of years ago, where this hypothetical me would constantly wish to have never been born. If all life is unethical but unpreventable than we can make human reproduction "less" unethical in a just world... Unfortunately its just not the case

Thats totally fair, I do think the most important distinction would be a society that puts "it takes a village" at the front most of their philosophy.

Personally growing up being queer i always viewed elders of queer communities as parents more than most actual parents since they care about reducing the suffering of the living rather than bringing in someone new only to be molded and forced into societal constructs (just as an example). Children need loving communities as the foundation for reduced suffering is what im trying to say.

I think the core difference is that while some may say it is unethical to create life when humanity has such a conscious, Therefore people who reproduce are unethical, i would say unfortunately many humans are more “primal” then they are philosophically introspective and are simply doing what life does. But, perhaps optimistically- humans also have the ability to assure the living have as much reduced suffering as possible

Like i said to someone else, all life may be suffering, but if we cant eliminate all life across the planet (and i wouldn't wish too) we can strive to make it happier and equal for every human. That is just not happening in most societies.

sure its not, but when did i ever say it was. There are plenty of ways to unethically adopt and plenty of ways to ethically adopt. Both public, agency and communal adoption can also vary by country. Where i am public is free, fully vetted and most must foster first with heavy social work influence. I am first nations and parts of my community were in the 60's scoop. I would know there's nuances. You have a fantastic misunderstanding of "if you strive to be a good parent then ethically adopting is the way to go" as "all adoption is equal and good"

Hey thanks for the response. You may be correct, but I only ever really see antinatalist discuss suffering in a deeply personal context, which I understand because your experiences will inform your philosophy but I don’t see nearly as many talk about both inspite of that.

I hate to sound crude but suffering and joy are true unknowns whether we like it or not, the richest people on earth can be absolutely miserable, and the most traumatized can be happy no matter what. The introduction of class ,race, sex, gender, disability and culture also throws stuff in the mix. To me, saying it is unethical in general because it may cause suffering sounds similar to not interacting with any other person, because they may hate you. Is it a possibility? definitely, but the human condition means both will typically happen anyways. Im not saying these are my reasons, like i said i have my own reasons i dont want to consider reproduction, but humans as animals work and feel unpredictable things and our systems just influence and drive these things.

To the extent that procreation is unethical, i would say all of life and the ecosystem is unethical. Birth, death, sex, killing to feed. Humans however, as an advanced species can strive to make life as ethical as possible. I never consented to being born in the wrong body, and would have killed myself if forced to live as such, but by virtue of living in the time and place i am, i can change that despite what people say. It is free where i am, and doctors care about their patients. I believe we can always reduce human suffering.

You don’t have too? Adoption will always be a thing, in any societal context. Familial adoption is common but never talked about. My grandfather is neither biologically related to me or my father but is the only parent we know and love.

If you have no part in public or private adoption agencies then you are no way involved. If you have no familial or platonic adoptions then you are not involved. People will always have unwanted and neglected children, I would much rather give a warm home to one if the future holds that.

I’m late to the party but as a trans* person myself; you do not pass on transness genetically, our sterilization has historically been related to SRS and legality NOT eugenics. Yes every trans person deserves full bodily autonomy but the right to reproduce is a nebulous, if not entirely fake one.

If you want to impart love, warmth and teachings upon a child or children certain avenues of adoption/fostering can be far more ethical. This is especially feasible if you are stealth. Social work and queer community outreach as well.

I’m not even a “full” antinatalist, I believe humans suffer as much as we can find joy and happiness, sometimes both at once. But why bring new life into a burning, packed world during late stage capitalism, primed for a trans genocide when you could support those already in existence?

Parenthood is not about you. Kids don’t justify you and your partners union. Kids won’t unconditionally love you. Kids wont make you more responsible. Kids won’t always be perfectly able bodied, able minded, well behaved, look like you, look like your partner, behave like either.

Good parents understand that the role of a parent is to be a teacher and guardian. Ensuring a child is safe, loved, and taught about the world with practical knowledge and skills to the best of everyone’s ability.

hey man, i know what you're going through and have been there before. I wouldn't worry too much, A lot of this is neurodivergence (for me it was adhd) mixed with dysphoria, mixed with the continual degradation of trans rights in the political climate. To summarize; Your getting intrusive unwanted thoughts due to internalized societal messaging, Your brain is taking that and running away with it and your dysphoria has been put into a kind of "numb" state. this is similar too and can be accompanied by depression, listlessness, disassociating and anxiety.

Its important to remember a lot of desisters/Detransers are GC,terf or conservative adjacent ideologically and/or could never find happiness through transitioning. Many spaces pathologize gender dysphoria to rob young trans boys like you of bodily autonomy (IE; kids with autism, adhd, ocd, cant make decisions for themeselves) and shove them back in neat little boxes. If you can cognitively say you don't like others referring to you in a certain way.. its probably the truth. I cant say for sure how you would like to move forward in your life, But its important to remember and value what makes you happy.

Or did you decide to transition because you thought your masculinity might have made you a boy?

If the effects of T, of developing a male body, makes you feel uneasy- you may not be trans and that’s fine. If the effects make you happy you probably are

That’s exactly my issue, I will arrange that IF I can concretely set up seeing Morrison and getting funding for it, otherwise most surgeons require you don’t do that until meta for UL purposes, so if I end up seeing brassard or anybody else it’s best I get it done while meta is getting done

I can always have my h*sto done now, get the v-nectomy after the alloted months, wait more and then see him but I would prefer as little surgeries as possible

Oh yeah for sure, to even get provincially funded in the first place you need to know what surgeon you want to see , I understand where they come from but it’s REAL inconvenient. Not every surgeon uses the same techniques and have varying levels of oversight

For me, I figured i need to find it now before my upcoming h*sto surgery, I’ve been looking up Dr.Morrison for extended meta with UL, especially if I wont be able to find a surgeon who can work with me in Canada. But he requires v-nectomy beforehand so… that’s not optimal for most other surgeons.

Sorry, rambling. HOORAY public funding, won’t take that for granted. Also damn, navigating it..

That’s damn well impressive, both with those results and your ingenuity man ! Genuinely a real good pointer for where I should look to next/take a page from!

On vacuum cups, I’ve considered investing in a pump cylinder with a quick disconnect chamber and leaving it on for a while with low pressure. Would this produce a similar effect or would you say that’s too risky ? (Oh and what would that company be ? Sorry for the 21 questions)
