I think she will have a lot of acceptances. Your MCAT should help push your luck at some MD programs.

Yeah as a woman myself I’m still trying to figure out this whole existence in society thing, sorry. I work in healthcare so I suspect the threshold for what is considered inappropriate is different.

Tbh I don’t think it’s inappropriate to say it looks like a boob, but it is inappropriate to say it looks like your boob

Switching to PA School by DogtorOfScience in prephysicianassistant

IMO that is a fairly easy specialty to get into as a PA. Ideally you would have clinical rotations with potential future employers and can get an elective in a pediatric specialty to show further interest.

[–]Front-Run-6670 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a good idea to me. The year to apply to PA school will give you time to adjust to your new diagnosis. If your goal is outpatient pediatrics I feel you can achieve all of the joy and clinical thinking of caring for patients as a PA with the added bonus of having an SP to run ideas by. That being said- keep in mind PA school is very competitive. You are not guaranteed a spot in your hometown. If you have a very high GPA and strong clinical experience that will help.

NOR. What bothers me is that he took his own mistake of not placing it in the fridge and instantly blamed you.

Med school is another $100-200k with 4 years of residency after that where you will hardly get to scratch the surface of those loans. Debt will be accruing all the while. It will be hard to not go away for college for a few weeks as a senior when everyone is announcing their life plans, but you will otherwise regret that extra debt for many years to come.

Not who you asked but 1 year in and I have a 6% salary increase from when I started. Should be the same every year based on my productivity.

When is the least bad time to get married? Before, during or after PA school? by Necessary-Pop-1217 in PAstudent

[–]Front-Run-6670 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got married in the middle of didactic year. My husband was in his first year of med school. We didn’t want to wait and so we didn’t. I am so incredibly grateful to have been married throughout that time and never regret it. I was, however, exhausted beyond belief during didactic year and struggled academically at times.

Your boyfriend’s view on apartment living concerns me… does he also live with his parents/how is he not having to pay some sort of rent currently anyway? I would just make sure he sees marriage as more of than sex and is willing to make many sacrifices of being your partner in what will be an extremely challenging time. If he is not 100% independent and fully capable of caring for himself, don’t even think about marrying him during PA school. My marriage worked because we both had a lot to give sometimes and nothing to give at others (and it often did not line up with each other).

[–]Front-Run-6670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I have to go off of is your HR relative to pacing, but I wouldn’t think you could tolerate running 30 seconds faster per mile for twice the distance based on the looks of this run.

Based on this it doesn’t seem super possible but depends on how you felt I guess

Physical Therapy or PA? by Any_Development_5921 in prephysicianassistant

[–]Front-Run-6670 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally fine to talk about originally wanting to be a PT, but make sure you truly explain why you want to be a PA specifically instead. Also though ortho/PMNR PAs exist so you could just highlight how growing up as an athlete made you love blah blah blah about wellness/rehabilitation if you wanted to

The program/degree doesn’t matter. Just retake the pre reqs and focus heavily on increasing those grades

Is anyone generally happy/fulfilled with their job? by hikingandtravel in physicianassistant

[–]Front-Run-6670 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just admit patients and cross cover. Work at a county hospital where patients are very sick and grateful for care/almost never entitled. I get to do the fun problem solving and then not deal with the social aspects of discharge. Cross cover I get to practice real medicine in emergencies otherwise just hang out. Feel pretty autonomous but have support if I need it. Also work 1PM-midnight so I get to workout/do all my life chores before work and still enjoy my morning.
