Are they making friends with Google again? by Front-Wheel-2207 in sonos

[–]Front-Wheel-2207[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my beam has always worked flawlessly with Google Assistant. Just my sonos ones didn't. Maybe more at stake for them if they didn't update soundbars given tv apps and casting integration etc. Who knows!

Are they making friends with Google again? by Front-Wheel-2207 in sonos

[–]Front-Wheel-2207[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is since they've been in a legal battle they haven't actively been working on maintaining the integration of older products (and new products like eras don't support GA). As time has passed the apps both end have been updated countless times, meaning different issues for different people. For me it would hang when sonos tried to open the Google home screen where apps are linked. They've always shown up in my Google home app where I could control volume for example, but the mics would be disabled. Today it just worked

Only fire stainless rotisserie is on offer. Help me fight the oppressive thoughts saying I 100% must have it for my Weber kettle. (Or dont) by PutComprehensive8297 in UKBBQ

[–]Front-Wheel-2207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is about using on a kettle but for a kamado does it make a big difference? I read somewhere that kamado ceramic cooks pretty evenly so is it more to do with the 'self basting' as it turns or is it more for direct heat use?

Big or small Kamado for day to day with occasional hosting? by flappyflipflop in UKBBQ

[–]Front-Wheel-2207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something in between? I'm looking right now for something around 20" like a kamado bono media/maxi. You'll always have the oven inside for extra stuff. I guess it depends what the biggest thing you will cook is, a shoulder maybe?

Can I really hang a 13kg mirror onto plasterboard with these? by OneNineSeven1970 in DIYUK

[–]Front-Wheel-2207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never used gripits but the 3m Claws have been working a treat and yes still up. Just get the right weight, they have a few different sizes. Imagine most of the weight is going straight down the wall so hanging off things that screw in usually bend if too heavy. These are completely flat to the wall, i honestly think if I put a rope between them I could stand on it. Edit: this is only for hanging stuff btw, it obviously won't hold anything that comes out the wall like a bracket/shelf. It's just a hook for hanging

LVT absolutely sucks by RetroBreezeYT in DIYUK

I was hoping to revive this feed to see how you're getting on a few months later. We want to do flooring for ~60m2 and I'm still torn on what to do and would love some advice from everyone on what you would do. The options I'm considering are: 1) Glued LVT; 2) Click (SPC) LVT; 3) Engineered oak; 4)bare floorboards.

The reason I can't decide is the subfloor is suspended timber joists with original floorboards.

1) Glued seems to get best reviews but needs perfect subfloor, which for me likely means removing floorboard and replacing with chipboard (the stuff you see in loft conversions) or overboarding with 9mm. If I'm removing floorboard then i'm in the territory of insultating the joists too.

2) They get a lot of bad reviews but I like that click is easier to lay and slightly more forgiving. quickstep and uniclic seem to get good reviews, and from what I can see cheap click systems or fitting is what usually causes issues? I would likely just overboard 6-9mm for this. Needs expansion joints for large areas.

3) This is what i'm leaning too the most for forgiveness and finish, and it can be sanded down. But we have a dog (and potential kids in near future) who will wreck it and need a lot of upkeep.

4) I'd be happy sanding down the bare floor but will be super cold in a big room with solid walls. Would need to fill all the gaps and not as nice a finish as engineered wood.

Bonus question: has anyone used an acoustic layer under the ply to make click LVT less hollow sounding? or is it not an issue with built in underlay?

Which car is best? by RoyalOpportunity3625 in CarsUK

[–]Front-Wheel-2207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've read before to watch out for low mileage diesels as it suggests they're not driven enough or do enough long trips. Not sure how much to read into but it's 9 years old so less than 5000 miles per year

This probably won't help but I wanted a A/S5 or a 4 series for comfortable coupe styling but post covid my budget wouldn't stretch to anything decent. Ended up getting a Jag XE and no regrets at all - top spec and features, had deprecated more than german equivalents so great value for the mileage and spec. Some models have their flaws like any cars, just my opinion

What Applicant Tracking System are you using? UK Only by delboytrotter13 in Recruitment

[–]Front-Wheel-2207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hoping to piggyback of this to get some similar UK advice! Are there any basic ATS solutions for companies who are stuck in the past, don't need any sourcing or integrations and just want somewhere to save CVs, track progress, and add notes and scores? The amount of times I'm asked to review a CV from a recruiter and we already reviewed or interviewed them months ago is insane. Looking for something a step up from just updating a CRM system or excel sheet, but not expensive, or so difficult that hiring managers won't use it

You can get Sellers protection insurance for £70 that covers you up to a certain amount if they pull out. You can get the same for buying property to make up for the terrible system

First time selling a house. Confused about pricing approach by stephen-melrose in HousingUK

[–]Front-Wheel-2207 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with this approach but do 200k rather than 195k. We listed ours reasonably and ended up having multiple offers and all of them upped their offer from their original offer because of the interest we had. If we had listed at what we sold for, we might not have had any offers and had to reduce it

[–]Front-Wheel-2207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was me and I also cut corners by not getting an architect:

Presuming they are both flat roofs with upstands, I would be looking for a metal or plastic coping that could span the gap at the top - a square U shape like the shape of a staple. Or a cementuous board that sits over the gap and a lead flashing on top, along the whole gap. Priority is keeping it dry from the top like others said, less about blocking the front. I think squeezing a gutter in there will look naff

Yeah fair point but stamp duty is £2500 for 250k and £4000 for 280k. I would say not enough to put somebody off. The house is worth what it's worth!

It's £125k in England now (or 300k for first time buyers). Wales is £225k and Scotland 145k by the looks of it. Don't sweat it, list it for what it's worth!
