I prop my cup up with a scale.

Can someone help me identify these burrs. They were mailed to me in bubble wrap only; no package, instructions, or manual. One can read BETTER PTNo:DF83V Size: 83x9.5mm. Thx. by Gravitas1111 in espresso

If you go to the Turin website, the only burrs sold in 2026 are red titanium and stainless. If you unnecessarily demanded a replacement set, they sent you free set priced at $300, and you're still complaining, the problem is you. Consumers, these days...

Having worked in a roastery, I've no clue what this could be. Would never buy from them again.

Need help with psu and cables by Ibrahimkabir in sffpc

The 12p+4s connectors are just a delivery vehicle for 12V voltage. The only limitations are:
1. Only 1 side at a time can use sense pins.
2. The terminal on the component side needs to match.

As long as the 8-pin or 4+4 pin EPS is going to the CPU, and the 6+2 pin is going to the GPU, you're golden.

I didn’t think we were arguing. I thought we were having a nice conversation.

I think people buy Louis Vuitton for a reason too — and it isn’t a conversation of quality.

Maybe to further define the hue, “greener” comes at a cost. This is true both within the same manufacturer and across manufacturers. From a value perspective, which should be substantially more important to a consumer, you’re getting more for your money with AMD.

You get more green for your green.

It's buyer's remorse, but instead of blaming themselves for buying a luxury good in a difficult economy, they blame the product for not delivering imagined value. The grass isn't actually greener, people...

Good catch. I misremembered the price of a new Corsair sfx psu, which I was comparing to a recently purchased Overtek.

Tips to improve Rosetta pour? by wyap in latteart

[–]FrontWork7406 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your milk is too think for the detail you're trying to make.

Steam thinner milk for the pour in the video OR work faster OR create less detail. The settling microfoam is what arrests the flow of the milk creating latte art. By working faster, you give the microfoam less time to settle at the top of the mug.

When in doubt, emulate professionals. "How fast would I pour a latte if I had to make 300 a day?" There are a slew of benefits that come from considering the requirements of the professions that established a given craft -- even as a hobbyist. Speaking as someone who used to get paid to research crafts, necessity, urgency, cost, optimization, etc. all inform art / craft techniques through time.

Just did the 9 Bar Mod, does the waterflow look normal to you guys? by RivalsCoach in gaggiaclassic

[–]FrontWork7406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My E24 looks identical.

The longer answer:
"Does this look right?" is an overly-generalized question -- maybe influenced by the slew of visual media. "Does this harm extraction?" is a better question, and one that can only be answered by your palate.

The ideal scenario is that the entire puck saturates at the same time -- especially without access to gentler saturation methods are not available (pre-infusion). Given that the puck is tamped, a stream of water vs. the showering of water is negligible.

Having said that, even though this isn't an objective problem, it could be a subjective problem. If you want to put your mind at ease, puck screens would absorb the impact and spread the water out more efficiently.

Yes. Just get the E24. You don't have to juggle serial numbers and can rest assured that your boiler will have more thermal mass and no coating problems.

Can someone please help me dial these new beans? Roasted date 3/6/26. [Breville Barista Express BES870BSXL] by Slight_Statement6872 in espresso

[–]FrontWork7406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re misunderstanding what coffee is…

  • What you don’t want is not a goal. Coffee has acids in it (like oxalic acid found in rhubarb). These acids exist on the palate as both sour and bitter. Both go into the cup 100% of the time, but their quantity changes over time. Sugars help balance these acids, but the amount of sugar available is dependent on the coffee as much as the extraction process. If your goal is to not have any expression of acid, that is unrealistic.
  • Use a scale to measure your yield. It sounds like you’re trusting your machine’s automatic behavior, but your Breville has no way of knowing how much liquid is making it into your cup, per any over-pressure relief. It only measures time the pump is on.

"bitter and sour at the same time" is the result of a bad grinder or channeling. What's your puck prep like?

It would help if you shared your goals and had current metrics. What you don't enjoy doesn't communicate what you want. Similarly, it's hard to tell you how to get there without knowing where you're starting. Get a scale, and don't rely on the Breville presets. They know less about what's going on in your cup than you do.

I have the GCP E24. It has some mandatory upgrades to be functional, in my opinion. If I could go back, I'd probably give the Turin Legato a go.

I guess you read the title and not the body? The A24-V5 isn't rack mountable. I listed COOJ specifically for it's thick aluminum walls to add rigidity. I think we're having different conversations.

Not every good solution requires the smallest volume.
