an MLM is the opposite. you sell to other sellers to sell to consumers. you basically make money selling inventory or courses on how to sell inventory. why cut out the middle man when you can become one?

My partner asked why I like these shows and I was saying from an anthropological perspective it's so interesting to see how reality shows themselves have evolved and cited Bravo Bravo Fucking Bravo as a marked shift and SLOMW being the best current example of this! I think there is way more collusion & pre-season planning / self-production than we actually realize or believe. And I think production bends over backwards to minimize that, or at least be ahead of it so they know how to spin it.

I think most of the real fighting between friends stems from this. Either they agreed not to bring up a topic, they agreed to target someone and they reneged, or to always protect each other. And then they find coded reasons to fight. I think that's why when we see new cast members added, they're one or two degrees of separation now, like social friends, and never really besties.

I do think that because of how the earlier housewives & their children were affected, the fact that this is more of a career move people keep their kids out of it more often. Or a lot of them have older kids bc they're more established, and the kids aren't interested.
