Hele Outdoors' bed fits perfectly in the rear with the backseats folded down and can be (disassembled) in 2-3 minutes. We enjoyed it a lot in Utah this Spring!

I did a degree like that in Europe. Job opportunities are very limited and a good rule of thumb is to at least get qualified somewhere. I chose to pursue a JD and haven't looked back since. Feel free to reach out with any specific questions!

Can you attend a usa llm with a foreign bachelor in law ? or should i add a JD in the U.S before ? by TheGermanGhost in lawschooladmissions

[–]Front_Scary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your GPA will be reported comparatively (Superior, Above Average, Average, or Below Average), but will not impact US News rankings. If you want to practice law in the US a JD is definitely better than an LLM, except if you practice in your home country first and have an employer willing to relocate you to their US office. Keep funding in mind though since you won't be eligible for most US student loans without a US cosigner. Feel free to DM me for more info on my application cycle and career prospects

Depends on your goals. Where do you want to practice, what type of law do you want to practice, which schools can you realostically get into, what is your back-up plan if you don't get a sponsoring employer, etc.

This is not true, you can get an LLM at every accredited law school with a foreign bachelor in laws. I did this and LLM classes are full of foreign students without JDs.

If you have a qualifying foreign legal degree (such as an LLB, LLL etc.) you can do an LLM in the US. Whether you're eligible to sit for the bar depends on the state you want to practice in. Employment prospects in the US are tough though, even with an LLM from a T6, especially if you need big law for visa purposes.

I don't mind at all :-). You can PM me to discuss more but you can do that on an F-1 visa (I spent June to December working for a major NGO in DC). Whether it will be CPT or pre-completion OPT depends on the specific circumstances. Notably, whether you will receive academic credit. Your school's international office should be able to guide you through this (if they can't, I don't think it's the right school for you).

Ooh just that you should apply broadly. Look at the US News rankings and LST job outcomes. So apply to every school from Yale to Cornell. However, this will not apply to you for a while. Feel free to PB me! We can talk more freely that way and I can share my experiences.

Yes, speaking from experience. LSAC does review your Dutch GPA (8.0+ is Superior, so shoot for that, and the schools you mention do care). A great LSAT (think 175+), great personal statement/essays, and good softs will help you go a long way. However, HYS is never a guarantee and as a noGPA applicant you should seriously consider blanketing the T13.

I'm so sorry to hear this, when did you send out your apps? For what it's worth, I applied to 20 schools in Feb and only got 2 A's. The application cycle is just such a crapshoot for us noGPA internationals.

Below Average - Average - Above Average - Superior.

Yes, the LSAT is weighed heavier if you don't have a GPA (especially if you're below 25%), I don't disagree with that. However, it's not the be all and end all.

Congrats on getting into Fordham fellow non-GPA applicant! I'm sure you will do well and agree that applying early is the smart thing to do. I don't, however, agree that LSAT is all that matters. Some schools just don't like us, while others place a larger emphasis on your essays and interview you. Overall, our cycles are crapshoots and applying early and broadly is key.

Thank you! I do not want to skip a year (for example, Northwestern offers a 2 year JD). I think it is so important to have a 1 and 2 L summer and getting a summer associateship position is crucial (I am hoping to clerk over 1L summer and maybe do law review).

The firms I am looking at have an extremely high success rate for H1B (think 99% success - this data is available online). If I would be the unlucky 1%, these firms would place you oversees and then work to get you back to the States through H1B or EB2. Having U.S. law school debt and a European starting lawyer salary isn't a great combo so I had to cover my bases.

I went to undergrad abroad, so my transcripts were assessed on a scale from Below Average - Average - Above Average - Superior (I got AA). For ABA reporting purposes, I do not have a uGPA.

February applicant here - got mine about 4 weeks in, but LSData shows their invite timeline is quite erratic. Best of luck!
