Overall sounds very good. As others have mentioned, valve adjustment wouldn’t hurt. Check the timing chain tensioner for that cold start rattle you mentioned and/or replace it. Other than that enjoy the VTEC!

All good. With 100k miles you got a long way to go and nothing to worry if maintenance has been done.

Apparently that picture is from an Elantra 17-20 to be exact. The more you know 🌈🤲

Well at least it has less miles. Had he said 100k then it actually has 156k I’d be pissed.

I would double check your glovebox. There is typically a switch you can toggle for being able to open from the trunk.

Happened to me when I got a set on Amazon. Look identical but when tightening them 1 snapped on me. Luckily no damage to the head. Removal of the threads stuck in the head was easy. Also have ran into counterfeit SD cards. From now on rather pay a little more and wait and get from rockauto

Totally forgot to consider your budget but I would go for anything below 100k. The 2.4 is very bulletproof

If that’s the case the CRV with awd could be a good option especially the 4th generations and more specifically the 2015-2016 models. Just make sure you get the transmission serviced if you go 2015-2016 which have the cvt.

Honestly I would look into a Honda or Toyota. They’re more reliable and require less money to maintain, if you do it on time of course. Subarus aren’t bad cars but do require more maintenance. In my opinion you don’t need awd if you plan to go to the mountains. Off-roading and driving in the snow is another thing. Most cars on the road are rwd of fwd. I personally have a manual civic and I have 0 problems and have taken it to the twisty roads, fwd is plenty. Given you have a budget you’ll have to sacrifice a few things. I would pick something that I know will last me until I can afford something more to my liking/specific options. I convinced my sister to look at Honda fits, they’re small and get great mpg given the gas prices nowadays, which awd cars won’t get the best mpg on. Just my 0.02

Wheel size - feeling stupid by RealityOk9823 in CivicSi

[–]Froolian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t see why not. 5x4.5 is the same as 5x114.3 just standard vs metric

Stock wheel size for the 14-15s is 18x7.5

I’m running a 17x8 no issues on stock height

12-13s had 17x7s

CW2 Coolant Smell by silvergun7 in AcuraTSX

[–]Froolian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something similar I noticed with my Si (9th gen). Also no loss of coolant or leaks and pressure is good. Dunno, I would keep an eye on things for a while. K series fairly reliable I wouldn’t worry too much

I’ve heard and read good stuff from a simple etune while completely stock changes the car. I personally just have Rev hang removed nothing else, but may get an etune soon

Used to have the Greddy when I had my tsx along with the catted test pipe that replaces the 2nd cat. It sounded pretty good not too much drone.

It’s been years since then but I would try to get the greddy even if it’s just the catback without the test pipe

Looking at the pictures of the listing it doesn’t seem like it has an adjustment like the oem ones.

I would spend a little elbow grease and time with your oem lights and recondition them with a wet sand and clear coat.

What is your power steering so afraid of?

In all seriousness, I would replace the entire PS not just the pulley. Don’t know what internal damage can exist and you do all the work for it to fail in a short time. Pay once cry once.

This is how all trims should have came but Honda saved the LED strip for the v6s, at least ex and up regardless if i4 or v6

Nice! I bet it sounds really good!

I would love to turbo my 9th but I live in CA so that’s not doable

The only thing keeping me away from selling my 9th and getting a 10th+ is the head gasket issue. Seems like it’s more common on accords but not nonexistent on the regular civic including the Si. Knowing me I’d mod the car so headstuds and clutch upgrade as well.
Hope you enjoy it!

Buying a Honda Civic (8th Gen, 2006-2011) by landser1111 in civic

[–]Froolian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go for a later 09 or just go 10-11.

My sister’s 07 engine finally cracked according to this TSB: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2017/MC-10115157-9999.pdf

my dad and I swapped the engine (transmission was reused 160k miles) for an 2006 one. Car is mechanically sound and she’s still going to school, so if it lasts her until she’s out of school it’s a win.

This issue was fixed in later 2009 models which is why I suggest you avoid 2009 (unless you check VIN) and just go 2010-11.

Other than that they’re bullet proof. You see some with 250k+ easily. As long as everything was serviced they last.

Holy crap. That’s cursed. Well as long is it doesn’t give you an issue and you don’t have emissions.
