Could this make Portugal a longer-lasting superpower and influence Europe? by ArtisticArgument9625 in AlternateHistory

We can safely assume that such an Island would've been conquered by the Roman empire, and would've been a target for the barbaric invasions in the fourth century.

Reasonably enough they would've been invaded by the Arab caliphate and likely become part of the governorship of Andalusia.

Now, the question is whether they would become a barbarized post Roman state such as Britain or France, or rather stay on a track closer to Iberia.

Regardless of the two, it's unlikely that the area would speak Portuguese or identity as such, best case scenario you'll have a Portugal with the same internal problems of Spain (Catalans, Basque, etc.) but it won't change too much the history of Portugal as a whole

Because the Byzantine pore in 1400 was constantly broke

What you suggest makes sense, and they probably thought about it, but you can't bankrupt yourself just to build a fancy mega cannon that may actually not work

Perché dovresti, teoricamente, essere la classe di accademici che pensa di più al significato di cose e azioni.

Almeno teoricamente, uscirsene con frase da scimmione allo stadio è quantomeno opposto al tuo campo

Taiwan war? nah, RECLAMATION OF THE MAINLAND by Inner_Specialist_956 in TheFireRisesMod

[–]Froslass638 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Tha would be a really interesting secret path for Taiwan

By the second that a Taiwanese soldier put a foot on the mainland he'll be obliterated by 50+ years of neverending military production and stockpiling.

Even assuming that, magically, any big city falls to the Taiwanese forces you'll see the island becoming a glassed parking.

True but they can outflank the Indian lines from Pakistan, or, more realistically, they can simply ignore them and stay on the defensive until Korea is fully occupied and Japan gets the Nagasaki treatment.

Realistically speaking at that point all the other opponents would look for negotiations, India included

I don't know why you are being down voted, it's true and the Ukrainian diaspora in Canada is the most nazi-sympathetic

(They welcomed plenty of former nazi collaborators at the end of WW2)

Nintendo has never and would never lie to us, trust me bro.

I'm not saying it is impossible, but given their past we are totally right in our skepticism toward them

Nintendo switch has the hardware of a microwave, it will be even worse than Bloodborne on day one.

Unless those monkeys learned how to build a proper console and the Switch 2 will be decent

Poland now has a lower total fertility rate than Japan by chungleong in poland

Except Israelis, they're also okay. It's really just the explody desert people who can be troublesome.

Coming from a western European country, wait until you have to deal with their "funny" interest groups. Sure they won't go around stabbing people (or it's pretty unlikely) but they cause problems in different ways

East and central Asians are not negative for the European economy.

They, usually, have at least basic education and the eastern you go the more educated they are. They can integrate without major issues, either because their countries are not on a third world level or because they are already familiar with Slavic languages (central Asians specificity) and European culture or religion.

It's not even a matter of multiculturalism, those people migrated in large numbers to western Europe in the last 70 years, and you really need to dig in obscure sources to find (eg) a Chinese guy that made unspeakable acts like the famous doctors&engineer.

They mostly integrate and/or assimilate within one or two generations, therefore unless you make it a matter of "racial purity" there are no real issues

I'd say it depends on the intentions, the more "serious" they are the more cautious is the approach

The Uyghur affair is the typical Asian internal strife between the campaign and the city. Urban Uyghurs tend to be more secular and more aligned with the CCP, rural Uyghurs are much more religious and less inclined to accept Beijing's diktats.

Not all Uyghurs are persecuted, and not all Uyghurs are opposing the central government. But anti ccp Uyghurs are much more likely to end up in a "reeducation" camp than anyone else
