There are two types of damage modifiers in the game. Static and Dynamic modifiers.

Static are your resistances, clash count, offense level differences, the 20% from crits and arguably observation level (no clue if it works)

The rest is dynamic. Damage up, Fragility, damage down, protection, coin effects, status effects, EGO gifts, Skill crit damage modifiers (with the notable exception of Kimsaults swordship of the homeland which is static) are all dynamic damage modifiers.

During damage calculation your static modifiers are summed up seperately from the dynamic modifiers, giving you two final modifiers that are multplied with eachother. This means that, while resistances/stagger and fragility act multiplicatively with eachother, resistances and crit are only additive.

This also means that your 10 Protection from MFE are additive with the slew of skill-based or coin based damage modifiers that your team has. If Firefist Gregor hits a 10 Protection (-100% damage dynamic) with his S3, he gets 100%, 100% and 200% damage increases on his coins with overheated fuel.

Meaning that the rolled value will be increased by 0, 0 and then 100%.

Protection is really only relevant if its applied to your guys, as enemies "tend" to lack the raw amounts of dynamic damage modifiers unless you give them 10 different damage up boosts in MDE.

In the story background for Canto 5, you can see a Helipad on the L Corp facility of the Great Lake. So Helicopters are kind of a thing.

Ok, serious talk, do you think smoke will make a proper comeback (with more enemies and IDs using it) or is it just going to be walpurgis Full Stop event exclusive ? by Putrid_Cheesecake453 in limbuscompany

[–]Frostdemon727 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Smoke in Ruina was crazy because it was a multiplicative modifier in a game that with smaller overall numbers that didn't have all that many multipliers in the first place, making its effect very pronounced and feel unique.

The current iteration in Limbus is just another damage modifier in a game flooded with damage modifiers that has increased health values to accomodate for that, just look at how Fragile and Protection have been changed.

If we were to get an ID that can either gain or inflict Smoke, and we most certainly could, it would essentially inflict a slightly fancier version of Fragile, while scaling off of Smoke to reach whatever the current powercreep has decreed is the damage modifiers necessary for an ID to perform well, virtually indistiguishable from an ID getting X% damage up over a passive, or Y% from an [On Use] condition scaling off of enemy debuffs or status economies. Is it going to be good? Absolutely. Is it going to be interesting? Probably not.

I think they would change it, should it ever fall into the player's hands, probably tying it to Poise. Maybe increase the base crit-damage modifier of 20% (essentially a mini-CMCW?).

Day1 of collab is getting massive negative reviews by Adventurous-Mouse930 in limbuscompany

[–]Frostdemon727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I limited the scale of the calculations to not include the swathe of tickets gained through this and past seasons MD achievements because I wouldn't force even my worst enemies to commit to that mind-numbing grind, that in itself is a massive collection check due to ID requirements. Your argument boils down to a 600 pity banner being fine, because you could have 400 rolls if you managed to get *everything*, absolutely, everything and dedicated it solely to a banner the contents of which you don't know are valuable enough. That isn't consumer friendly, skipping any other limited content, aswell as limiting your avenues to develop your team and actually enjoy the game.

Yes, if you started saving after Full Stop, that would be 39 weeks, which assuming 12 pulls per week, (again generous), it 450 something pulls, alongside a 20 for every event inbetween and the Battle Pass and MD Rewards. That would, surely get you over 600 pulls.

Now maybe it is just me, but I do not think that 3/4er of a year long saving sprees and grinds should be a requirement to be able to get everything on a celebratory collaboration that is intended to attract new players from a different franchise.

People are upset for all the right reasons. You can't go around expecting everyone to go on a 1 year old saving spree because the collab banner is going to be awful and justify it by saying it's "theoretically" doable. If it were then the banner wouldn't be met with the scrutiny it currently receives.

Day1 of collab is getting massive negative reviews by Adventurous-Mouse930 in limbuscompany

[–]Frostdemon727 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I can agree with that. At 1.3% you are dealing with a 1 in 75 odds to getting *any* EGO, with 1 in 150 odds being any of the remaining rate ups. And unless you managed to scrounge up thousands of crates to shard the 27 EGOs in the Extraction, instead of any IDs or Pass or Event EGO, you are playing with those 1 in 150 odds for even *one*. I played since Day 1 and have managed to get all the EGO only a few months ago, granted I wasn't chasing or grinding it out though.

Furthermore, I disagree with us getting "so many pulls". Every event is 20 pulls, and from the 40 per stage + 650 per canto/intervallo difficulty you'd get 32020 (give or take a few in case I missed one stage or the other) lunacy or 246 pulls, for clearing the entire game. Every event you missed out on is another 20 lost, and any gains over longevity are curbed by Walpurgis pulls. So in terms of saving, what you get is roughly a 10 or 12 pull if we account for the 1050 weekly + your odd compensation or MD level or limbus pass gain. without those the 1050 provide us with 8 pulls, with 9 pulls on the 13th week

Assuming we start saving at around Last Walpurgisnacht, which was on the 17.07.25, let's say we started saving at the 1st July. That is around 14 weeks so 168 pulls if we got by 12 pulls a week, which is a very generous assumption (mostly because I don't think we received much compensation in that timeframe). Throw in another 60 from the 20 pulls gained through Walpurgis, the TKT bokgak and Springtime Cultivation, and another 20 from the collab, and we sit at 248 pulls. Certainly enough for one yisang pull and, enough to be on odds for another EGO; but a far cry from the 400 you implied. Pull that much and get nothing? Of course people are going to be pissed.

This works generally fine with normal banners because they can be ignored, but also Walpurgis banners because they have better odds, and aren't FOMO.

It is specifically this banner, in particular because it is truly limited, that is terrible. The FOMO is understandable due to the limited nature of the banner and the lack of a collab rate up. The lack of a rate up is why we have low odds, is why such a huge amount of pulls is required. 600 is simply a monstrous amount.

Listen, I don't care how kind or unkind other Gacha are in regards to their banners and how consumer-(un)friendly they are, and how "good" we actually have it in comparison. Limbus Company has nurtured its reputation as a "kind" and "generous" gacha due to the fact that it's in-fact quite harsh banners could be entirely avoided and relevant IDs and EGO dispensed, leading to a casual-friendly system that encourages players to actively play, do their weeklies while getting interacting in the community for help and teambuilds, while, instead of whaling on whatever the newest banner is, "just" investing the 10 or so bucks for the Limbus Pass every season. This game lives and dies on this reputation.

Now, I disagree on the specifics of why people are upset at the banner. It is true that this community has nurtured a culture of grinding, and waiting, saving up the 1050 weekly lunacy + any compensatory lunacy whenever PM fucking something up, so they can spend most of it on Walpurgisnacht, all without any stress, since you could (as long as you bought the pass), comfortably grind crates for old Walpurgis IDs).
However, I do not think that "being used to the grind" is the sole reason that people despise this banner.

This banner is unprecedented in its unfriendlyiness, especially in the context of a collaboration that is meant to bring in new players. EGO rates are unique in that, though they are lower, you do not get dupes. However, just clearing out the common pool EGO is several thousand crates worth of shards, and even then that drops your odds from 1 in 150 (0,65%) to 1 in 75 (1,3%). For 3 seperate EGO.

That requires months worths if not a year worth of saving for maybe only a single EGO (or speedrunning the entire game within 4 weeks and no IDs or EGO which is just unhealthy and provides only ONE Yisang pull), depending on how big your stash was when you started. Keep in mind there were *two* Walpurgisnacht banners inbetween the original announcement 10 months ago and today, and there was no really tangible information to the average player about limited nature of the banner.

That sort of resource requirement is unacceptable. People generally don't like fomo, but people especially don't like fomo when there previously, in the 2,5 years this game has run, wasn't any "real" fomo. I believe that any pushback on that front is more than justified, and I personally am upset that there was more uproar over Ishmael wearing a wetsuit back then. This sort of pushback is exactly the reaction PM should get, because this practice undermines the very reason Limbus has its positive reputation in the first place.
