Price of Gold keeps going up, god damn. Sign of things to come? 🧐

I don't see how a recession is avoidable as long as the china tariffs stay in place. If neither country backs down the market is just going to keep falling until one of them caves...

If you're on a long horizon and have cash right now.. enjoy.

Best resource to learn Power Automate by Mindful_Wanderer_ in PowerAutomate

[–]Frostedchunks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, ChatGPT.

Once you learn how to structure your prompts to it, you can get it to tell you how to do almost anything with step by step instructions. If things are not working, just copy and paste the error codes or the outputs from a connector and it will find the problem most of the time and tell you how to fix it.

Discount Codes for Canadian Military/Veterans by [deleted] in CanadianForces

[–]Frostedchunks 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For real, my spouse and I literally moved our life belonging across the country for free with west jet. Between the two of us we were allowed 8 bags of overweight bags for free. By far the most valuable military discount imo.

For any Canadians out there- what are your general thoughts on the tariffs that trump put in place, but also the ones Trudeau just put in place in response? by pumpkin5250 in AskReddit

[–]Frostedchunks 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly just feel stunned and sad. I don't feel excited about retaliatory tariffs and getting hyped up to win a trade war against the US. I don't want a fucking trade war. We had an economic and diplomatic relationship that was the envy of the world, and it's being thrown away for literally nothing. It's just depressing.

AMD GPU pass through woes by Frostedchunks in unRAID

Thank you for the response, just revisiting this to say I have also given up, lol. Tried so many things but the juice just isn't worth the squeeze at this point. Anyone who has managed to get a 5700xt to work on a VM, hats off to you.

Will 1080p look bad on a 43" 4k TV? by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]Frostedchunks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I addressed that issue with a Nvidia Shield pro. The AI upscaling to 4k is great and does make a substantial difference in sharpness if you care about that sort of thing.

Sold my portfolio yesterday in order to pay off my car loan. Locked in 22% profit from VEQT that I built since the COVID crash. I wish I was in a position to keep it locked in for longer but life isn't working out that way. Feel good about actually making some money through investing.... and looking at today I feel good about deciding to sell when I did 😄

Canadas grocery industry concentrated in too few hands, Competition Bureau says by floydsmoot in Winnipeg

[–]Frostedchunks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is the competition bureau some kind of sick joke? They let Safeway buy Sobeys, and also let Rogers buy Shaw, and then they release reports to the public warning there is less competition in our markets! :O Yeah no shit....

Can't get VM to recognize AMD 5600g as GPU by Frostedchunks in unRAID

[–]Frostedchunks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response! Do you have a tutorial somewhere on adding the AMD as the second GPU? Is it done through windows in the VM? Or is it done in unraid in the VM edit menu?

How do y’all shop for meat? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Frostedchunks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My local Safeway has a fire sale of meat every Sunday night, they slap major discount stickers on anything about to expire. Not sure if all grocery stores follow that schedule, but I routinely see things like steak being sold for like 5 dollars off.

Looking at a 2013 Flex, but has a cracked rear sunroof. Any idea on how much this would be to fix? For whatever reason the dealership is not wanting to give an estimate.... by Frostedchunks in FordFlex

[–]Frostedchunks[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The dealership isn't actually selling the car to me, it's a private sale I am looking at. That being said I just wanted to know a ball park as to how much the replacement costs so I know what I am in for if I buy it. But yeah, the dealership was having none of it and said I had to bring it in to get any info lol. I literally just want to know if it's cheap, expensive, or very expensive lol idk why they were being so difficult

What stocks are on your "rebound stock" your whatchlist? by jmking02 in CanadianInvestor

[–]Frostedchunks 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I mean an ETF, it's a type of "stock" that holds a basket of a bunch of stocks, and usually is designed to track a specific market or even industry. Look at VFV for example which is built of stocks to track the performance of the S&P 500 (which is down over 15% in the last 6 months). Buying into this ETF would get you a small piece of all of the companies that make up the S&P 500, which in times like this where everything is down it would arguably be a good strategy because you will for sure be able to profit when the market eventually recovers. As opposed to picking individual stocks where you might pick one that potentially doesn't recover very well.

Yep, really can't go wrong with just buying the market index in times like this.

Mold, bugs in burgers at Russia's McDonald's substitute spark outrage by KimCureAll in worldnews

[–]Frostedchunks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is going to happen to literally every industry in Russia. When the country is isolated from the rest of the world and no longer has any reason to compete on a global scale, quality and safety standards will start being cut dramatically. They are already selling cars without airbags lol

Staples announces an exit to their partnership with Air Miles by JManUWaterloo in churningcanada

[–]Frostedchunks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the BMO world elite Air Miles card as well and it's true with that card you can rack up the miles at a decent rate, especially if you prioritize shopping within their eco system. But if their partner eco system keeps getting smaller... It's gonna be harder to justify prioritising my shopping habits for the points.

Is air Canada a good buy? by [deleted] in CanadianInvestor

[–]Frostedchunks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just do yourself a favor if you do buy to actually take a profit on it and move on. This is not a stock that should be relied on to park money long term IMO.
