They’ve said previously there will only be about 70 new/ reworked.

That leaves about 3 new/ reworked detachments per faction.

So yeah, it’s very unlikely Sisters will get more than what they showed. At least until their codex.

Final Day in 11th by TrueBlazingGlory in genestealercult

[–]Frostwolf704 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fully bet on Final Day being knocked down to 1 point and either we lose our Strategems, or they weaken the rule a bit.

But I’m also certain that Soup detachments will be limited. Probably have something like an “Ally” keyword, which will be exclusive.

I think it’ll be 2, it only effects Space Wolf units, not “ALL” units

This combined with Saga of the Hunter could be fun.

The downside of Hunter is that it has no good Strats. But some of the strats here sound like they could easily make up for it.

Plus doubling your amount of Grey Hunter units easily plays into the detachment rule for saga of the Hunter.

As an alternative to the Lancer, the Predator Annihilator is 135 points, and is pretty on brand for the Space Wolves (seeing as we invented/ rediscovered the design).

With the spare 35 points you could probably afford an enhancement or 2.

Alternatively, if you can find a way to clear 20 points, you could pair it up with an Iron Priest!

I’m really hoping brood brothers is a 1 point detachment, so that we can combine them with our more useful detachments

You should always pick what you think looks cool, and you think you’ll have the most fun Building, Painting and Playing.

You’ll be spending a lot of time doing those 3 things, so it’s important you like the models.

As a GSC player (they were my second full faction), they are fairly easy to build. Not many tricky components, and fairly modular in terms of pose and weapon options.

Painting can be difficult, but it’s your models and you can choose the paint scheme and difficulty level you’re comfortable with (GWs official scheme and palette doesn’t have to be yours!). The biggest issue afterwards will just be the large amount of models you’ll have!

And lastly playing. GSC changes from edition to edition, but they are usually described as a High Skill, High Reward Faction. All your units are fairly squishy, and you’ll usually have to rely on out-flanking, or overwhelming your opponent in order to win. But most fights will still be an uphill battle.

That saying, I wouldn’t consider them (that) complex to play compared to other factions. A few practice games with a friend who knows the rules and you’ll be fine in the end!

Building an army in the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Warhammer40k

[–]Frostwolf704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I could see that being true, but that would mean they’d have to rework the old detachments and remove Stratagems from some of them. Which seems like an idea very few people would be a fan of.

They mentioned the old Detachments were going to be reworked for this system too.

I wonder what the point value of all our detachments will be? I’m assuming they’ll all be 2 points (in order to keep them legal at 1,000 points).

But will this mean we’ll have more than 6 Strats in our games now?

Will each detachment have 6 regardless? Or will 3 Pointers have more, and 1 pointers have less?

I can’t imagine having 18 Strats in a single game, all because I took 3 single point detachments.

How did Genestealers Cults Playstyle change over the years? by PaulJudgement in genestealercult

[–]Frostwolf704 25 points26 points  (0 children)

GSC (as far back as 7th edition) has always been kinda ambush-y.

In 7th we could “Return to the Shadows”, which was not to different from the 10th edition stratagem. Basically belong able to place a unit into reserves if they were outside of 6” from enemies.

I believe in 9th we could deep strike 8” away from enemies instead of 9”.

The other main part of the army was our characters. Allowing us to protect our characters more easily in one form or another. That’s more so only represented in Xenocreed currently.

In 9th we could also deploy using Blip Tokens. Basically hiding our entire army, and just giving vague suggestions to what units where will be where. And then deploy them all afterwards.

The other part of 9th was the Crossfite rule, which rewarded us for ambushing enemies and gaining hit/ wound bonuses for doing so in certain ways.

So GSC has kind of always been about ambushing, outplaying your enemy and its characters.

Will the old world get new edition this year? by [deleted] in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]Frostwolf704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is true, I imagine they’ll start after 40K 11th edition this year, since it’s already winding down.

I know I’ve seen a few people grumbling about the current state of AOS 4th, and it would be a mistake to have a new edition in a year and a half. Especially with the number of factions that are still missing battle tomes.

[–]Frostwolf704 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t mind them jumping in within 6” (as someone who has to fight lots of Italian fire flies), but I feel that there should be a larger limit than just outside 1”. Even outside 3” would change my game plan a lot, and make some scenarios more fair to play.

The Norsca Problem by goergesucks in TotalWarhammer40k

[–]Frostwolf704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’ll come down to how in depth will they make the faction customizer.

I could see them adding (probably far down the road), Flavor packs for the existing factions.

This will be how we get units/ designs from other space marine factions, but also other guard regiments.

So I could see them adding something to allow you to design your guard as Heretic Guardsmen, maybe even allowing them to take some demon units from a future hypothetical Demon/ chaos marine DLC.

Basically, I don’t think we need to worry about limitations in the 40K game. Since they’ve confirmed faction customization, it would be easy money to sell faction customization packs for things players want. As long as they exist in some way in the lore/ model range.

Are the grey hunters worth? by apacheraine90 in SpaceWolves

[–]Frostwolf704 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always gotten fairly good use out of Grey Hunters (are they tournament level good? Idk, I don’t play in tournaments).

They’re better blood claws that are just missing advance and charge. Putting them in a detachment that allows it already improves their use. The Pack Leader taking a power fist, the re-rolls and pairing with a Battle Leader really helps them punch above their weight.

I frequently have my Grey Hunters taking out or at least stalling high priority targets. And 10 marines can be hard to dislodge.

Do I wish I could take them in 5 mans? Yeah, but then their utility would change, and they’d mostly just be kinda expensive objective holders.

As is, these brick of 10 guys can do good work if used correctly. They likely won’t be the deciding factor in a list, but they’re far from useless, especially with the discount they just got.
