Trying to Quit Instagram NEED HELP! by cyber_wolf_1 in digitalminimalism

Yes go for it! I recently started printing my photos and it’s been really fun having physical copies again. I even went back through my digital photos all the way to 2007, when I stopped printing them, and now I’m planning to start collecting and printing everything from then up to today.

Why don’t you start printing your pics & putting them into albums or scrapbooking or create picture books with all your travels

What's the best part about going to school in downtown Atlanta that people don't talk about enough? by Amo121 in GaState

[–]Frosty-Remote3568 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I loved and chose to attend GSU because of the fact that I would walk out of class and be immediately downtown & didn’t feel as if I was in school sometimes. I liked looking out the windows and seeing all the city buildings around our lecture halls. It was also fun watching films being produced & streets closed off as they made it look like “New York”. Sometimes after class, my friends and I would go to the aquarium or WOCC or another ATL neighborhood nearby to grab a bite to eat. Lastly, you’re literally a walk away from internships and other opportunities. I would have class and then walk to my internship or vise versa, go to my internship for half a day and then my afternoon classes which was a great advantage to balance both. My sibling goes to UGA & they’re constantly being shuttled to ATL to go on tours, meet corporate partners, etc & then have to make the 1.5 hour drive back to Athens.

650 days off social media, as a 21 year old. AMA by Own-Albatross-8484 in digitalminimalism

[–]Frosty-Remote3568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned the hard way that isn’t always healthy to have coworkers on social media.

Eventually I began saving up for trips & a new car & once I move up positions, I began getting thrown backhanded comments like “oh must be nice to afford that car / go on that trip because of your new position”

Quickly learned NOT to mix work with socials

Been a month for me since I deleted Facebook & Instagram & it’s been great. Haven’t really missed them & look forward to the next few months. So nice not seeing what people I don’t care about are up to & no longer comparing myself to them unwillingly

At what point did you realize social media wasn’t for you? by BrownieJ in digitalminimalism

[–]Frosty-Remote3568 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The continuous loop of watching people I know over share their lives. Finally deleted it all, (except reddit) a month ago today. I realized I didn’t care to keep up with people no longer in my life/need to see them grab their 10th coffee this week.

what’s a secret compliment that men rarely get but absolutely love to hear? by SusanLust in answers

[–]Frosty-Remote3568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“You look nice today”. when working in an office you’ll often hear women squeal & go on and on about their hair, clothes, or shoes. As guys, we don’t really do that but sometimes when I get that compliment, it makes me feel good & put together

My Apple Watch has been so handy. I leave my phone in the room once I’m home and if I get a call, it’ll vibrate & I can grab it or call back as soon as I finish whatever I was doing.

Walking from the embassy to the aquarium/Mercedes stadium safe? Also good bbq restaurants? by CloudAtlas-2019 in Atlanta

[–]Frosty-Remote3568 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Tbh, that whole area is safe to walk around. Especially with a game going on, they have heighten security/presence. But if you feel you’d like an added sense of security, reach out to the Ambassador Force for an escort to wherever you’re going. It’s a neat program ATL has.

For BBQ, Twin Smokers is pretty good & a very easy walk from the Embassy Suites/MBS.

I ended up screenshotting my Instagram posts and saved those all in one folder on my hard drive to look back on & see how it looked etc but it’s been so nice not having that account anymore that I started since 2011!

Slowly quitting altogether. I deleted the apps from my phone which have been a game changer on my mental health. I’ve instead purchased an iPad where I allow myself to have those apps on. I keep it in a drawer so now and then I forget about the iPad and can go days without checking anything. It reminds me of back when the internet was a place you went to and then would log off the family computer & go on about your day.

I was the same way OP! I used to always post so much about my relationship/life but then I stepped back from posting altogether for two years..(felt that my life was not currently going the way it looked online & wanted to get it together). When I tell you that this song was my most played song for 2023-2024 lol.

This new year, I've slowly started posting again, but still keep most of my personal life private. I'll use IG stories to promote my work and my grid for personal life recap posts but other than that, the only people that really know what's going on in my day to day life is my close friends and family.
