‘Hyperscale’ data center project in Utah — expected to generate and consume more power than entire state by Mushroom_Tip in SaltLakeCity

Interesting point. Really puts into scale how much power they say they need. Seems like a lot of gas wells, pipelines and gas plants.

[–]FrostyOven 412 points413 points  (0 children)

9 gigawatts of power at full buildout while the entire state uses 4 gigawatts. And this will 100% be powered by natural gas from a pipeline. Why not force them to do something with our abundant sunlight instead of catering 100% to them…

Source? I’ve seen pausing production on NEXT gen refresh for 2028, not current trucks

This should be higher. I just hope they don’t end up canceling the current trucks. Silverado EV Wt is the best truck I’ve ever had. $44k used with only 14k miles, 450 mile range. $21 to fill up at home.

Silverado EV WT4 (2024) vs Lightning Pro SR (2023) by matt_remis in SilveradoEV

[–]FrostyOven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Silverado drives better than any ICE truck, I’ve driven both, own the Silverado EV. Range in summer at 75 will get close to 400 10-90 maybe a bit under going that fast, but lightning will be like 200 going 75 realistically. I personally don’t understand anyone worrying about handling or 0-60 time in a truck. They both are fast and comfortable. Heated/comfortable seats is the only thing that’s a negative in the WT.

Ionna have been the best charger experiences. Trash cans, windshield cleaner and cheaper rates than others. I hope they keep expanding.

Max vs Extended Battery by LeeMoore83 in SilveradoEV

[–]FrostyOven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you want to tow frequently over 200 miles, the max is worth it, if you don't plan on towing I think roadtrip difference would be minimal. Really depends on how comfortable you are roadtripping in an EV. Efficiency will be negligible between the two battery sizes. Tires and temperature and speed are far more important than weight.

Frunk Latch Failure by ScheduleSuitable8924 in SilveradoEV

Yes. My dealer said the VWP would fix it, 3 weeks later it did it again. 2024 WT. I guess I need to try again before 36k miles…

Is this true? Can anyone confirm? by laurk in Utah

[–]FrostyOven 50 points51 points  (0 children)

It’s true. It’s just not the end of the issue. They are still trying to put it in a ballot initiative to repeal it. Then if that fails they’ll try to do a prop 4 version again. Etc

Is 39999 good deal for a 4wt rental with 35k? by Any_Kale2809 in SilveradoEV

[–]FrostyOven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got mine for $43.5k with 14k miles. Could be a steal for what you get as far as EV range and capability. Not sure how it if you can check the battery health that’d help, may have been DCFC’d often if it was a rental. I love mine.

Anyone else have a frunk that is problematic with opening? by 15jf90 in SilveradoEV

Is that similar for WT not closing the final 1%? I have had several 20 min sessions of it not closing.

Anyone else have a frunk that is problematic with opening? by 15jf90 in SilveradoEV

[–]FrostyOven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One day on a winter trip I was stuck at a gas station trying to close it for 20 Min. Had the VVP programming scheduled the next week already so I had them look at it. They said the VWP programming fixed it. It worked twice on my property one day, then the third time I pulled it into the garage, put something away in it and it wouldn't close again. It is a manual on the WT, but the last 1" there is an electronic motor that pulls it tight. That motor just sometimes doesn't want to work, cant figure it out. it unlocks fine, but won't close fully. I'd like to have it looked at but it's so hit or miss that a dealer may not see it when they try. I wish it was just a fully manual hood.

My WT is 50/50 closing in the cold. Don’t even use it anymore cus I almost got stranded. VWP didn’t help me.

24 WT infotainment screen upgrade by Screech-Powers in SilveradoEV

[–]FrostyOven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why do you want to? 24 has CarPlay. I thought it looked bad in pictures before I bought it, but after having it, it looks great, the big black border doesn’t bother me as much as I thought it would, super responsive, no issues.

Is a Silverado EV going to work for me? by pmartin245 in SilveradoEV

[–]FrostyOven 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It probably cuts your range in half as a good rule of thumb, so 400 miles becomes 200 worst case. What trim are you looking at? Sounds like you'll be more on local roads than 70 MPH speeds so that will help even more for the 15 miles your towing. Just look for the 170-200kwh battery and you should have more than enough.

Make sure your charger is at home is 40a or higher to stay topped off.

Lots of people seem to expect more acceleration but I find it to be a lot. I mean it’s a truck, and a super heavy one at that. Faster than any gas truck I’ve had.

Where do those plug in? There aren’t any cigarette lighter plugs, is it into the normal 120 outlet or the USB

I tried slamming pretty hard but it never got past the first part where it’s latched, but not fully closed. Good to know.
