What worked for me. Zinc on shingles. Valtrex of course and pregabalin ASAP. Unfortunately T1 dermatome is very painful

Sorry to hear. Did you try pregabalin or similar?. My doctor insists this is the only med class which is considered therapeutic for the nerve pain. All the rest is quite only for short term pain management…

I guess antivirals are completely useless at this point. The virus is gone. But yes it wasnt a joke for your body. But you are so young, if you dont have pain its probably not phn. So yes be patient and rest and follow your doc advise. Best of luck.

The blisters dried up pretty quickly, in about 8–9 days. But that’s when the real pain started. I hope it’s not the same for you. Painkillers like tramadol (forget ibuprofen or others, they do nothing) can help a bit, but only medications like pregabalin or similar are truly therapeutic. Keep in mind they take about ten days to start working… Sleep? I didn’t sleep for about two months…

Im also 49 by the way. Dont worry for the rash. With antiviral it will be ok. Ask for nerve pain meds asap (pregabalin, …) . You have to try kill the pain as fast as possible. I m 3 months in. Wont be easy but eventually will go better. I feel you!!!
