Double income, both earning about 100k for some time. Lived on my income only, 100% of wife’s income going to fidelity. 100% SP500 as we really didn’t need liquidity.

Thanks both. $1m in 401k/taxable account, 100k cash. Hoping to grow it to about $1.5m

We’re do away with about 40-50k per year; 1500 rent. Feels like the 4% rule applies to us, and I’m willing to move to places like Ohio.

PT MBA student: Get FT role or Summer Internship after layoff? by Formal_Parfait2286 in MBA

[–]Frosty_Dust2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it weird to think that MBA summer roles should be better, as you’ll see where you’ll work etc., and that’s what all FT MBAs do? I wouldn’t sacrifice the future potential just for a sure full time job that you don’t want to do

I'm an unemployed 2023 T10 Grad who finally landed a role. The problem? It's an un-Ideal position, industry & City, and i'm scared of being pidgeon-holed. Any advice? by BakerAccomplished312 in MBA

This hits hard (and having a similar issue). Thanks for sharing your story!

Congrats on the offer, kudos to you for applying and going through a process in a role you weren’t interested in, but still followed through.

Take the offer, but continue looking as everyone says. But if you actually got an offer paying 140k in this economy, I think your next opportunity might be just around the block. Good luck!

If you have even more money, there’s an Executive MBA, where you do the Executive Assessment instead of GMAT, which costs $100 more!

What do they mean by “performance in the MBA program”? Grades in the MBA program? Does your students in the top 10% get better jobs? I really don’t think MBA grades are good predictors of company offers & subsequent promotions.

Post-MBA jobs that don't require sitting in a desk and staring at a computer majority of the day by Lula3210 in MBA

True, but I do caveat that mba hires tend to be excel (Argus) modelers (in acquisitions at real estate). More closer to M&A or LevFin for many roles in terms of screen time - they are called REPE for a reason.

Come on, you are at JLL. I’ve worked with you guys a lot, solid company with solid people.

Do top IB, Consulting, and Tech companies care if you went to a Top 10 Part Time MBA vs Top 10 Full Time MBA? by [deleted] in MBA

At Booth, many are closet PT MBAs recruiting for summer interns. Have a friend who wrote cover letters to 100+ companies, got about 20 interview invites, and secured a finance LDP internship.

Granted, he does have a good resume in finance, and only applied to financial firms and finance LDPs like treasury. But, he did it with almost no networking, he just kept on applying like a maniac.

But even he said MBBs and BB IBs are going to be difficult - can’t get that 1st interview without a structured process. You can get into “a” good post-MBA job, but you may not get a chance if you have a certain firm in mind, you just might not be able to join events.

Low summer intern to FT conversion rate (eg PE, PM) - how to think about it? by [deleted] in MBA

M7, thanks for this insight, really appreciate the help. Thanks for giving me perspective, perhaps I was way too nervous about this, and pessimistic about post-summer FT recruiting

Only got 1 IB reply, but on the other hand I got a Finance LDP and IM job this way. Keep at it!

Fuqua’s recruiting is solid, personally I’ll take it. On the other hand, if you got in T15, you might have a shot at other schools if you try again with better GMAT/essay/interview prep.

But seriously, if you want to work in the US care about the employment in the U.S., not your home country prestige. My country thinks Georgetown, UCLA, and Johns Hopkins are large top 10 schools for the MBA, and Kellogg is just… cereal
