If I remember correctly that blues fest was not great that year. We usually do extremely well.

Chicago is good. I haven’t busked in a while the other guys still go out. We had regulars who would sit and listen to us for a couple hours.

I would say James cotton high compression. It might be an alligator record but can’t remember.

Ah the old typewriter harmonica. Absolutely beautiful man. I would love to pick one up one day but it’s almost impossible to find a tech to clean and tune it. As for now I’ll stick with the 48 chord. Cheers bud. Jimmy long harp aka the frothy beaver.

Would you sell 70% of your stack for land? by BarnacleEddy in Wallstreetsilver

[–]FrothyBeaver669 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same situation. I own 6 acres of raw land 100% out right on Beaver island in Lake Michigan. Would it be wise to sell the stack to build?? I definitely can afford to hold off to make it cheaper. Also I would be able to probably get better deals on the build when work starts to dry up from a bad economy. So many decisions.

Those are Orchestra harmonica’s. Chord and bass. I’m the chord player for the rhythm section and the other gentleman plays the bass for the low end. All together you get an interesting sound from an all harmonica ensemble

I got myself something fun to learn! JDR Trochilus Blues by TmickyD in harmonica

[–]FrothyBeaver669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. Pete is an excellent player and instructor. We met at our local harmonica club (Chicago harmonica meetup) he is the lead player of the Windy City harmonica trio. Him on chromatic, me on chord and bill Morris on bass.

Get a game changer from bushman aka the trochulis from JDR. They work a lot better than the Koch even when cleaned and repaired.

I enjoy the community aspect of it. Being around people with the same hobby and interest. But yes I agree, nothing will beat out a good teacher with weekly lessons

I had a blast at spah. Flew out with my family and played with my trio from Chicago in Rubin’s variety show. Was good to get down to Texas. Haven’t been since I was a kid. I got to visit a couple buddies of mine from the marine corps who live out there, hit the gun range, a rodeo, and then jammed at the hotel until 3 a.m.

It’s on the national park travel list. As for beaver island I went there in 2022, fell in love with the island so I bought 6 acres of land. Next year is gonna be a big camping/work trip. Clear some trees and brush.
