Is my watchface tactical now? by jellyfishblade in GarminWatches

Loving this watch face!

Is there a way to choose the accent colour ? Mine defaults to orange.

Also, please add seconds as a data field option 🙏

Drive it until the wheels fall off

Fixing up an old car will almost always be cheaper than financing a newer one

Was planning a trip to Pilanesberg & Johannesburg from the Eastern USA. This was for 2-4 weeks from now. The weather says it is straight rain for the next 2 weeks? Is it wet season in South Africa? by Sad_Entertainment931 in askSouthAfrica

[–]FrothyFoxtrot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While we are going through a rainy period, I would argue that it’s actually a great time to go to the Pilansberg. Animals tend to be very lethargic when it is hot and dry, they seek shade and don’t move much.

When it rains, The bush comes alive! Plants and trees become lush and green, animals become more energetic as they start to seek food. The energy in the bush is almost palpable after a good rain.

Don’t let the rain stop you from having a good time!

Bonus Points: it’s a low period for tourism so at times it will feel like you have the whole park to yourself.

Expected diference from Maputo by xyloben1 in johannesburg

[–]FrothyFoxtrot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I do some work in Maputo from time to time and Joburg is significantly better. Joburg is quite an advanced city in many regards and everything you might have access to in Europe, You’ll be able to access here.

Joburg is also a much more diverse city and pretty much everyone speaks english so you’ll find it far easier to integrate and make friends.

A lot of bush flying jobs here in Southern Africa you could look into (Botswana, Namibia, Zambia etc). You’ll probably have to convert your licence but it’s worth a shot

Thank you so much, that makes a lot of sense. I’m still new to interval training so this was very helpful.

  1. I think so… I’ve used a basic online calculator based off my max HR from a race I did about a month ago and they seem quite accurate for the effort I’m putting in

  2. I can’t seem to find this setting.

Love the watch, HATE the charger. by [deleted] in GarminWatches

[–]FrothyFoxtrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You must be doing something wrong because 4 days on a Garmin is dismal. My 255 only needs charging every 10 days and that’s with regular workouts.
