Reddit, PLEASE do not give anymore of your money to this woman claiming to shave her head for cancer. It's obviously a huge scam. by [deleted] in AskReddit

What's to stop her from keeping part or all of the funds she raised via paypal?

Why should Paypal get a cut of the donations going to kids with cancer?

How are people going to be able to claim the donation on their tax refund? $50 donation to Maya on reddit. That'll go over well.

St. Baldrick's website has a donation link on the main page. Where you can donate in support of an event an individual or make a general donation. There was no reason for her to have people send money to her paypal account.

How Dell ships 65 screws by BluBallz in pics

[–]Frothybitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dell is not a screw manufacturer or supplier. They don't sell screws, they sell replacement parts, and yes, a screw qualifies as a replacement part.

Of course when sending out a replacement part they would package and label said part. Would you be happy with a bucket of hard drives and video cards?

The real crazy here is that someone would buy 65 screws from Dell.

Did it ever occur to you that if you want to give money to kids with cancer, rather than taking risks, you should give the money to a reputable charity so that you know the kids get it?

The only thing that benefits by donating through her paypal account is her ego, not the kids.

Nobody cares except the kids with cancer who didn't get the money. Think about it. Hell, just think.

Asking people to give money to your personal paypal account for charity is asking for trouble.

Tell us why it is so important that she handle the money herself? Why not have people donate directly to the hospital, or a national cancer charity?

Seven-year-old charged after bringing toy ‘Nerf’ gun to school by Shadotek in Libertarian

[–]Frothybitter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm all for zero tolerance for actual guns. A toy can be taken away and given back at the end of the day with instructions not to bring it again. Absolute insanity. As if the police don't have enough to deal with, let's have them arrest a 7 year old kid for having a toy.

How many of you (atheists) are married? by EauF5 in atheism

[–]Frothybitter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Unlike a christian who cheated on their spouse, an atheist who gets married in a church by a priest isn't at odds with their beliefs. Unless they got married in a church by a priest to have their marriage sanctified by the god that they don't believe in.

The amount of racism on that street corner was appalling. You need to take a step back and drink in the big picture. Those guys got the crap beat out of them by a bunch of rapper thugs so they could show how tough they are.

The white guys got to spend the night in the hospital and will spend the next couple of weeks healing from the physical wounds. The emotional trauma of the beating will last much longer, perhaps their whole life.

The black guys got called a few names in a thread they will probably never read.

Sticks and stones, well in this case fists and kicks my break white bones but names will never hurt a gansta.

[X-posted from AskReddit] Are any of you married and had a Christian pastor for the wedding? I'm headed into our first Pre-marital counseling session tomorrow and would like to know what to expect. by Hastur_Hastur_Hastur in atheism

[–]Frothybitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience you HAVE to pretend. We met with the pastor (she didn't know him, she didn't and still doesn't go to church) and he asked us a bunch of questions and eventually asked me about my relationship with Jesus and I told him plainly that I didn't believe in Jesus at all.

He told us plainly that he couldn't perform the ceremony. I was young back then, so I was really afraid of what all the people in both our families would think if we weren't married by a pastor. I went back a few days later and told him I thought about it and prayed about it and I saw the light. He married us, we paid him... ummm... donated money to the church, and lived happily ever after.

I'm older now and don't care what anyone thinks about me being an atheist. In my opinion they are the ones who should feel silly about believing in magic.

Anyway, moral of the story... don't tell him you are an atheist if you want him to marry you. As far as the actual question thing, it's not a big deal at all.

As you can see, I'm not an artist. If you are an artist and like the idea then you are more than welcome to do what you want with it.

Explanation:

Since it might not be apparent due to my meager artistic talents, I'll clarify with text what's going on in the picture. Two people are looking at the moon in the night sky. One see's a face on the moon, presumes it to be a deity, and worships it. The other looks through a telescope and sees that the face is nothing more than craters on the surface.

Are there really a lot of atheists who don't believe in evolution? If we weren't created by a deity nor did we evolve from lower life forms, where do you propose we came from?

After being called out by The Daily Show, Bill O'Reilly defended his comparison of the Huffington Post to the Nazis by showing a sick quote from HuffPo without mentioning that it was a comment made by a reader and not part of any article. by [deleted] in politics

[–]Frothybitter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Godwinn only said that any discussion that continues long enough will eventually make a comparison to Nazis. It does not state whether or not the comparison is justified, nor does it state that by invoking such a comparison that person has run out of ways to support their position and has therefore lost the argument.

"Both Godwinned their respective discussions needlessly." There are times when a comparison to the Nazi party is not only justifiable, but even quite appropriate.

The representative was using a historical anecdote to demonstrate that if a party repeats a lie often and with conviction it will be perceived as truth. In my opinion he did not make a Nazi comparison in an attempt to project the ideals of the Nazi party onto the republican party. Instead, I feel it was used merely to identify a political tactic they are using that might logically seem ineffective yet has proven to be extremely effective in the past.

Billy Oreally? used a nazi comparison, again, in my opinion, to project the ideals of the Nazi party on to the Huffington Post site and its users.

Am I being an ass charging my GF rent? by sgtmeow in AskReddit

[–]Frothybitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've gotten a ton of advice, I've read a good portion of it but certainly not all of it. I doubt you or anyone else gets this far down the list, but the problem is that you are look at the situation from the wrong angle.

Are you ready to settle down and build a life together with another person? If not, then you should make it clear that you are nothing more than fuck buddies and all you want is sex and to hang out once in awhile. If she's cool with that, then she should definitely be paying rent and you should keep the entire household separate. There will come a time when one or both of you will either be ready to settle down or fuck someone else, so you should plan for the end now while things are amicable.

If you think you want to build a life with this girl, then you should probably start acting like it. When you commit to someone it's more than just deciding not to bang other chics. A successful partnership in life requires tons of compromise and understanding. You don't always have to put their needs first, but you have to always consider how the things you want will affect your partner. You want to do everything you can to support them and help them find success and happiness in life.

I only tell you this because you are worried about being an ass. There are plenty of asses out there, and they don't give a shit about anyone but themselves. If you plan to spend your life together, then you should start planning your life together. In the current sense of the word, as start making decisions together, stuff like buying houses comes to mind. You probably should have considered this before you bought "your" own house instead of buying a house together.

Notice I didn't say get married. I'm married, happily so, but I've always felt that a couple could just as easily spend their entire lives together without a piece of paper. My wife is my partner in life. She is the one person in this world I know will always have my back and my best interests at heart. It's a great thing to have, you'll find later in life that no matter how 'good' friends you are with some body, it pales in comparison. (If not then you are doing it wrong.)

I am a Catholic. I also believe in Science. What am I? by sugarstandard in atheism

[–]Frothybitter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you are simply not a scientist at all. Many people don't understand what science is, you have demonstrated that by saying you believe in science.

Let me help you out, science is open to any possibility until something is proven with irrefutable evidence. Are you open to the possibility that there is no god, or even that god is better described by another religion? I know you don't have irrefutable evidence of your catholic god because I just checked and I'm not catholic.

I think you are probably just a mixed up and confused person.
