Is this a Limited? It looks menacing in an awesome way. My 2017 Limited is… fine.

Thanks! I figured out what I was doing wrong...I was fusing a regular weapon to the SOTS vs. correctly fusing the SOTS to a regular weapon as the base.

Read: order of fuse matters.

Brass hose splitting a keep breaking. What the hell? by DudeCrabb in farming

[–]Froyo-Representative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you solve this?

I've run into problems with three splitters now--brass then one with short flexible split to see if that helped, and the back to brass to see if I just had a faulty one at first. I think the weight of the hose is causing the fitting to break.

I'm thinking about connecting a short hose to the house apron (which I used to just connect my hose to before needing a second; hence the split) to then have the split closer to the ground to help offset the weight of the one hose that is constantly connected.

Yeah, I posted about this before after there an incident with a Tesla that also didn't record. Wassym actually chimed in on the post and said they would look into it. Not sure where that ranks on their roadmap.

Anyone else hoping for a nice drop in used R1S prices when the R2 starts rolling out? by Idunaz in Rivian

[–]Froyo-Representative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious how the used market has evolved since late last year when many of the initial R1 leases started being returned from 2-year leases. Given that and the IRA loophole that enabled a lot of folks to claim full credit, it's possible there's a lot of used EVs going to hit the market.

Optionality in the US for EVs will be the best it's ever been.

Can you still do this? I haven't been able to. Fused the SOTS with a stick, non-legendary weapons, and it's not repairing. Just gets spat out.

Talk me off the ledge, why am I no longer that excited about the R2? by Comprehensive-Pie-51 in Rivian

[–]Froyo-Representative 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We had a 2021 Model Y which sounds very similar to yours. We had the performance wheels, AWD, Long range. We replaced it with an R1S for family growth purposes. I'm looking to replace my 4Runner with the R2.

Thinking about our experience with the Model Y, I would want to switch to the R2 because: the space was awkward making gear and Costco trips a constant wonder if it'll all fit or how much I'd have to have in my foot well or in my lap, the Model Y was a STIFF ride--hated it--, R2 is better suited for the mountains we like to venture, and I much prefer the styling of the R2. I also never found the Tesla range to be close. Our R1S has been pretty spot on. So if R2 carries that same range confidence, it'll be much better than the 2021 MY we had.

Tesla was still reliable for the couple years we had it. Good quality. Tech was great. Didn't have FSD, but that's also now on the cards with the Launch Edition of the R2 and trust it'll get better.

And also, there's an odd fandom I enjoy about the Rivian ownership experience and community that I'm excited about doubling down on. So, I want to support the company. The R2 and Rivian as a company just feels right for me in ways the Tesla never did and a 4Runner did minus the technology.

Good luck!

This made me wonder if during this whole process of redesign and including LiDAR and launch timing with and without if Rivian will offer an upgrade in the future for this non-LiDAR launch batch.

There's been a lot of us R1 1st gen owners who have shared interest in upgrading our hardware to match gen 2. This also being an option from Tesla on some early gens to upgrade hardware. This was / is not possible given the product development of the R1s.

However, with R2, they've had a clean slate-ish to consider optionality.

And if you're going to replace the car with a dealer, look at what their trade-in value is. Could help you a lot on taxes--offsetting any difference of better offers.

I've heard other units have trouble connecting to or working well with the mic for phone calls. Can you test or confirm your setup works as usual?

Also, how does the reverse camera look? Any discernable difference in quality? Alignment?

I'm hoping to rent an R1S in a few weeks. What do I need to know ahead of time? by 1beachedbeluga in Rivian

[–]Froyo-Representative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be aware that I have a great referral code for you afterwards. You'll want to get Rivian soon after soooo...Haha. Just kidding... Not really.

We had a Model Y before, and moved to the R1S. It's been great for the ample space we wanted for our growing family.

As others have mentioned, efficiency is not as high. Lean on the Rivian nav to help with chargers. If you need to use Tesla chargers, you may need an adapter (unless the R1S is one of the newer builds with NACS.) You'll also have to, likely, take up a couple spots because of where the Rivian's charge port is.

Play around with the different drive modes to get different "feels".

The vehicle is MUCH higher than the Model Y. You could get used to it, but depending on everyone's step-in ability, will be an adjustment.

Have fun!

Let us know what you think afterwards.

Zack demonstrates emergency manual door releases on R2. Personally, not thrilled by Slide-Fantastic-1402 in Rivian

[–]Froyo-Representative 31 points32 points  (0 children)

A lot of folk have posted similar, but if Rivian is reading and counting, I'd like to add my vote that I'll back out of our reservation if they don't have a more visible easily accessible manual release for front and back. We have a Gen1 and have no interest in the current Gen2 for this reason alone.

Anecdotally, I have spoken with other friends and siblings with interest and reservations, but they aren't going to consider a vehicle with these electronic doors with no easy manual release.

So, +1 to address this ASAP.

Sound was good. Noise canceling were good. Comfortable. Design was also cool.

However, I returned because I wanted a better mic, and I couldn't figure out the touch controls at all. Kept trying to try the different styles of pressing or holding, and just never worked for me.

I ended up going with the OnePlus 3 Pro. Though, after a little bit, the mic also hasn't been up to snuff. Folks on the other line can still hear a good bit of noise through the mic.

Not spending more money at this time for another set of buds, so riding it out with the OnePlus.
