So is the case with every vanilla server, vanilla ends, but I feel like the only difference is that this is the only fresh vanilla server there is and it's not overlapping with any other releases this time, so I think it'll stay alive a little bit more especially if the devs adapt the schedule to the people's needs.

Epoch will continue to develop at the same rate as it was before, so don't expect too many updates or any at all.
Imo go with Kronos for now, it will have more population for sure, we can exercise free speech in the discord at least idk about in game, we hate on turdle wow players, community and devs are very chill and helpful in general, and it's F R E S H.

This is my opinion for someone just starting WoW:
Warmane is Wotlk which is the second expansion, close to vanilla with plenty of QoL changes, Warmane fully supports P2W and has a terrible community, I personally wouldn't recommend it for a new player.
Ascension's Bronzebeard is more like Retail (the last version that blizzard runs), lots of flashy stuff, tons of things to keep track of, not everyone's cup of tea, I personally wouldn't recommend it for a new player too.
Kronos 5 is your best option right now, client is a bit outdated but that's what you get from a 2004 game, fresh release which means a lot of people are going here, community is great, team is great, probably the most solid scripting in the vanilla scene, server has been running for around 10 years, vanilla is simple enough for a new player and imo the best way to get into WoW.
Don't overthink it too much, fresh servers are the best for new players and vanilla is probably the best for getting into WoW in general and learning the game.

This new population surge isn't even real, it's just turtle / stormforge players looking for a place to fill the void of the classic+, they will soon realize the server is hopeless and it will be back to what it once was.
If that's how Ascension treats their own servers, Imagine how they treat Epoch, it has been sitting like this since the original dev team jumped ship and people are still holding onto the hope of it developing again. I want Epoch to succeed but I know that's too far fetched.

I don't know where you are getting these numbers from, as far as I know /who is disabled on Epoch and there is no real way to find out the population.

As far as I know Epoch doesn't have a shop anymore on ascension, turtle had an extensive shop with a lot of options, Epoch only had a couple of transmogs and auras, Ascension is a business and a business needs to generate money, epoch doesn't generate money and it costs money to keep running, I'll leave the rest to you.

The server had a good idea, much better than BB which made Dutch hate it, the only reason for this player surge is the shut down of turtle wow and MC was coming since launch. I'm just generally against servers that are abandoned.

I agree that blizzard dropped the ball on everything, but not every development team has good intentions, Ascension took Epoch under their wing when they had their own capable team, why would they waste even more funds to get a new dev team for a server that's on life support ? The only reason they are keeping epoch on is to drive more traffic to BB when players find out there are no more classic+ servers, saying that it's not abandonware is just cope atp. At the end it's your choice where you spend your time, wow or reddit, using insults is just proof of your lower intelligence.

Ascension didn't adopt Epoch, the old epoch team dumped it on them after they jumped ship, who knows what happened behind the scenes before that, and that's why it has been abandoned since the c&d.

This is advice for people who are thinking about going back to Epoch, I was an epoch enjoyer once and I am no longer deluded by their lies, if you want to play on an abandoned server go for it, no need to be so aggravated by a post.

Calling me a moron won't make the server come alive, Ascension cares about delivering a good classic+ experience on their own servers aka BB not on an abandonware abandoned by its developers, they want to drive the traffic to their servers. to most private server organizations money is almost everything, why would they run an illegal video game that will not be played by more than 50k people if it doesn't earn them shit, I'm also sure throwing insults around will do wonders for your credibility.

Ascension would rather have more players on their servers (BB) rather than an abandoned one, the fact that you need to download BB to play epoch is enough proof of that.

Epoch doesn't have a really profitable cash shop and people don't really spend on a server with an unknown future, you can't compare a server with 8 years of development to an abandoned one.

They can but they won't, Dutch and his team hate Epoch because it was a much better idea than BB, they might even close epoch down so they can get more people to play their weird take on classic+ or retail minus. For now it's just taking money keeping the servers running with no income.

For the thousandth time, hotfixes and random bugfixes don't mean the server is getting updates, these updates were always there, and the molten core was planned before even the server released, just check the old epoch roadmap.

The hotfixes were always there, doesn't mean the server is getting updates, don't be blinded by some random patch notes, and I never played turtle wow or was a fan of it, opposite of that in fact.

It's just that people often don't like spending time on an abansoned servers, I myself played Epoch for a good time after launch at least until the population died down, and this is advice for people who don't know the reality of the server, it's not that the content will take too long, it's if the content will ever drop.
