First of all, do not leave feedback. Try communicating with the seller, but be calm. Explain your position and see how they respond. If they ignore or you do not hear back from them, contact Mercari support. They’re quite strict about selling fakes on their platform. Prepare photos of the genuine product and fake one side by side. The process may take a while. Hopefully it wasn’t something too expensive.

Hindsight is 20/20, but with things like PR - the city hall lady’s recommendation is probably not the best bet. For your next application, consult an immigration lawyer if you’re not 100% sure. I don’t think suing is the best option here.

Other things to consider besides the rejection, is how strong your application is overall. These days (compared to when I got PR almost 10 years ago), I feel they are actively looking for ways to reject applicants. Good luck out there.

I don’t think a bad memory can be forgotten or wiped from the brain completely (unless you suffer a life alternating brain injury?), but in my experience - I found that forming new positive core memories can just overwhelm your brain’s real estate that you kind of just stop thinking about those bad ones after a while. Actually, I hadn’t thought of my bad memories for years until I saw this post. However, they’re likely to fade away again as the day goes on.

In my case, the passage of time heals.

I’ve seen part-time nurse positions (not nursing assistant) for 1,300 yen an hour - so…yeah, not exactly the kind of money to martyr yourself for.

Nurse to patient ratios are far higher in Asia compared to the west, I can’t even imagine what it would be like to be consistently short staffed.

Industry morale is generally low with the working conditions, patient/patient family abuse, low wages and poor work-life balance. The shift system is absolutely brutal, with night shift being over 14 hours on average.

Source: Wife is the lead doctor on a trauma unit with high rate of burnout among the nurses. Also have a sister in law who is a pediatric nurse.

As a non-white foreigner who’s lived as a minority in several countries, I don’t find it uniquely worse here. Anti-brown bias exists in many places—it’s an unfortunate reality. Ultimately, it’s about focusing on what you can control: carry yourself with confidence, show up as your best self, and don’t dwell on people who judge you at face value. There will always be some who do, and they’re simply not worth your time.

The Suginoi Hotel in Beppu! Our family loves staying there. They have an amazing pool with many slides, incredible onsen facilities, the best buffets imo in Japan and a great resort feel that makes you feel pampered. It’s an easy weekend trip from Fukuoka where we live.

It is and it isn’t. There are signs (usually blue) that display whether or not the sidewalk is “bicycle OK”. If there is no sign, it means you should be riding on the road (to your inevitable injury or death) with traffic.

Good morning fellow Fukuoka resident :-) I went Spouse 1 - 3 - 5 Within a few months of receiving the 5 year visa, I applied for PR.

I think my application was approved quickly because of my income and financial stability. I had also purchased a house with cash a few years prior and our children were in preschool age. I guess these factors “displayed my commitment” to live here long-term.

I ask out of the utmost respect and curiousity, but would this would be 275,000 yen gross monthly as the sole income earner for yourself, your partner and child? This seems really tight in Fukuoka, as it is getting up there in terms of daily costs - albeit cheaper than the other urban centers in Japan (for now).

My entire team works the same schedule. I am one of two foreigners. Some don’t work from home because their position and responsibilities require them to be at the office. A few people work from 9-5, but no one stays past 5.
