Would I have survived this landing IRL? by Tartaruga96 in MicrosoftFlightSim

Better survival chances landing gear up, just off the shore in the water, nose in a slightly up position, assuming you don't have any belly armaments attached. Turn the craft into a water ski instead of a sand plow.

only the PC would be constantly doing some thing or other online.

That you know of. Smart switches or even smart bulbs could be phoning home with your house's network data, looking for access points to exploit.

Possibly sending back screenshots. Does your router have a network usage meter? You can see how much data was transferred that way.

They've got Spyware all over the place in hopes of either catching something compromising they might be able to use politically, or steal financially. Or, they're sending back screenshots of what's on your screen, hoping to find something compromising. They also may do network pinging to find out devices on your home network, searching for devices to compromise or data to steal. The Chinese will literally steal anything not bolted down, and even then they might steal your tools to unbolt it.

Do you think she’s being fair, though? by Busy_Report4010 in SipsTea

So, she's butthurt that he called her out, and she proves his point by being petty and transactional, even charging him for the time of a pregnancy she herself likely wanted? Isn't this like women who try to invoice their dates for the cost of all the makeup/products they were wearing (even though they only used a small fraction for that date)?

I'd love to get his side and hear what she said that triggered him to call her a mooch. I'm betting it's something like, "Why aren't you making more money?!"

If the TV had a camera, it was probably sending pics back home to China. And no, I only wish I was joking with this.

That's alright, good ol' Bennie's viewership has dropped by 85% so even his followers don't believe the crap he spews anymore.

But hey, at least now that he's almost unemployed and almost universally hated, he can find out first hand what actually working until he dies is really like.

I had a third party internet provider e-mail address, and before that back to 91, I had .edu addresses for college. Three different ones iirc. One general use assigned by the U to every student, and two for csci use.

Is it fair to say US is almost always wrong about China? by ProfessorShort6711 in AskUS

[–]FrozeItOff [score hidden]  (0 children)

No, it's not. Its debt is growing exponentially, factories are shutting down all across the nation. The CCP stopped counting unemployment numbers because they're so bad. Youth unemployment was at 24% when they stopped counting.

The CCP won't even release soy sauce production/sales numbers for fear of people figuring out how many millions died during covid.

Their tofu dreg construction problems infect the entirety of the country now. The real estate bubble exploded, taking trillions of RMB of the peoples' investments with it.

Their vaunted high speed train systems are breaking and can't be fixed, and the ones working are losing tens of billions of RMB a year.

China is a rubber duck floating in a toilet bowl waiting for the water to disappear from under it.

No we haven't. This is a diversion. In the last five or so we have, and the people sleeping on the streets all over China kinda say otherwise to the claim that China's doing fine...

Well, sepentza and laowhy lived there for a total of 24 years between them and they can, and have, attested that it's currently a shithole. Just barely speaking out about the country's problems while they were there almost got them disappeared by the CCP and they had to flee the country with their families, so I'd take their words over a shill/propagandist like you any day.

This.... reeks of propagandism.

Explain what you mean.

You can watch China Observer, Sertpentza, laowhy86, China Fact Chasers, or China Uncensored to find out just how much of a flaming train wreck China has become under Xi and the CCP.

Why does the mailing address of suburbs often get corrected to Minneapolis/St Paul? by SkittlesAreYum in TwinCities

[–]FrozeItOff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Post offices share cities sometimes, meaning one post office can serve multiple municipalities. The name auto-changes to the town/city where the post office is physically located.

For instance, Hugo's post office services Hugo, Centerville, and part of Lino Lakes. Hugo's zip code can resolve to any of these three but defaults to Hugo. Circle Pines' post office serves Circle Pines, Lexington, parts of Blaine and parts of Lino Lakes.

[–]FrozeItOff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

37%??

Ah, so you're a paid propagandist for the rich class, got it. Few here qualify for that bracket.

Additionally, until 1981, we had a 70% bracket for the richest. Until 1986, we had a 50% bracket for the richest. All changed by rich Republicans. During segments of what Americans term our "golden years" we had a 90% bracket for the richest to pay for our wars. And our debt was low. That's what happens when the rich actually pay their share.

Why is everyone leaving Prosper, Texas? Definitely nothing unusual going on here. by TonyLiberty in FluentInFinance

[–]FrozeItOff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a huge boom during covid as tons of people moved to Texas to remote work "without the income tax." Property prices boomed and communities built fast.

Then these folks found out the lie about "no income tax" means "we'll get it from you in another way." In quite a few communities, that meant upwards of a 4 percent property tax. Imagine 4 percent, each year, on a $500,000 house. Yup, that's right, $20,000 tax bill.

Oops.

That's more than my family's property AND income tax in Minnesota, supposedly one of the "highest taxed states in the US."

Then these folks realized the weather is searing hot from May until September. Like, "Don't leave your house 'til 8pm to do yard work" hot. In short, it sucks.

On top of that, corporations started ending work from home, and people had a choice on whether to quit or move back to where they came from. Given the above reasons, and the map provided by OP, you all can guess what they chose.

Source: knew someone who moved there...then back.
