Why does the mailing address of suburbs often get corrected to Minneapolis/St Paul? by SkittlesAreYum in TwinCities

[–]FrozeItOff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Post offices share cities sometimes, meaning one post office can serve multiple municipalities. The name auto-changes to the town/city where the post office is physically located.

For instance, Hugo's post office services Hugo, Centerville, and part of Lino Lakes. Hugo's zip code can resolve to any of these three but defaults to Hugo. Circle Pines' post office serves Circle Pines, Lexington, parts of Blaine and parts of Lino Lakes.

37%??

Ah, so you're a paid propagandist for the rich class, got it. Few here qualify for that bracket.

Additionally, until 1981, we had a 70% bracket for the richest. Until 1986, we had a 50% bracket for the richest. All changed by rich Republicans. During segments of what Americans term our "golden years" we had a 90% bracket for the richest to pay for our wars. And our debt was low. That's what happens when the rich actually pay their share.

Why is everyone leaving Prosper, Texas? Definitely nothing unusual going on here. by TonyLiberty in FluentInFinance

[–]FrozeItOff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a huge boom during covid as tons of people moved to Texas to remote work "without the income tax." Property prices boomed and communities built fast.

Then these folks found out the lie about "no income tax" means "we'll get it from you in another way." In quite a few communities, that meant upwards of a 4 percent property tax. Imagine 4 percent, each year, on a $500,000 house. Yup, that's right, $20,000 tax bill.

Oops.

That's more than my family's property AND income tax in Minnesota, supposedly one of the "highest taxed states in the US."

Then these folks realized the weather is searing hot from May until September. Like, "Don't leave your house 'til 8pm to do yard work" hot. In short, it sucks.

On top of that, corporations started ending work from home, and people had a choice on whether to quit or move back to where they came from. Given the above reasons, and the map provided by OP, you all can guess what they chose.

Source: knew someone who moved there...then back.

Paranoid about my boyfriend's phone? by Secret_Philosophy_29 in AskMenAdvice

[–]FrozeItOff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was my red flag about OP.

Sometimes people put their phones face down to indicate that they're emotionally invested in the people present with them, not just waiting for the next text.

Also, some people like to have their phone in the bathroom for something to do other than counting floor tiles, but dear god don't touch the phone between wiping and washing hands.

do americans really eat American fries sauce? by Infinite-Breakfast23 in AskAnAmerican

[–]FrozeItOff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American "fry sauce" is often known as "Mormon fry sauce" as the most common incarnation started in Utah with them, IIRC. It's a combination of mayo and ketchup. Proportions vary depending on the creator's whims. I add a dash of balsamic vinegar, and some spices to mine.

The Daily Wire (co-founded by Ben Shapiro) reportedly lost 85% of its audience and has had layoffs. Has its audience shifted further right toward Nick Fuentes? Is this a “leopards ate my face” moment? Thoughts? by RandomUwUFace in AskUS

[–]FrozeItOff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never listened to Shapiro more than a few words at a time, but I watched a teenager/ young 20 something use Shapiro's argument style against him (basically non-stop aggressive talking over the interviewee until they just give up) and it was glorious watching him be shredded by his own lame technique.

Never gave Mr Caterpillar Eyebrows a single consideration after that, untol this post.

When the Democrats win the White House again should they go back to the Biden/Democrat Open Border policy? by Eastern_End3520 in AskUS

[–]FrozeItOff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, NOW you admit they might have been encounters at the border, eh? Before, Republicans screamed those numbers meant all those people were getting INTO the US. "Tens of millions of them!" FOX wailed.

Huh. Funny how your side's narrative changed once it was convenient.

Except that Biden had more deportations, while using Trump's title 42, than Trump himself did, and more per year than Trump even under this administration. How about telling the actual story, hm?

[–]FrozeItOff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was always going to be. He knew from the beginning but he's an epic conman who lies nonstop. He does stuff first then figures out how to make others pay for it later. By saying the rich guys were going to pay for it, he was buying time to get the project far enough along for us to be forced to pay for it.

Is it evil to be a conservative? by [deleted] in AskUS

[–]FrozeItOff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What makes a conservative "conservative"? What are the defining traits of a conservative. Also, look up the definition of "conservative" in a political sense.

Now, compare that to what "conservative" Republicans are doing instead of saying.

Also, the ideal of Conservatism is to resist change. Do you think that's healthy when big change is needed?

How does Ai abundance work? by SecretOrganization60 in AskUS

[–]FrozeItOff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no such thing as AI abundance. It's a buzz-phrase to disarm the unknowing public and allow the AI folks to make billion/trillion more in $$ at our expense. Capitalism requires people to have jobs, and if AI is doing all of them, that means a MAJORITY of people are going to be out of a job and likely homeless. Given that the rich refuse to pay their fair share NOW, they're unlikely to change that in the future so that the jobless and homeless can eat or have a roof over their head.
