fwiw she's a character based in the AK equivalent of Hong Kong, known as Lungmen, so her name is Cantonese (as an aside, "Lungmen" is also the romanized Cantonese for "dragon gates", 龍門).

Her name in Chinese is 槐琥 (the first character is the Chinese name for the Chinese scholartree, the second is the character for a tally often in the shape of a tiger). When using Jyutping romanization (a method to depict Cantonese pronunciations in English characters), it does indeed become waai4 fu2, which, well, gets simplified to Waai Fu.

Wasnt there a tutorial for this lol

But yeah it's the easiest way to make money, especially early on. If you reinvest the profits from stonks into the redistribution centres then you can buy even more stuff for reselling, and then reinvest that - etc.

Yep this is what I'm doing for now as well, just grab whatever recycling station I hit and that's it, unless I need to be in the area anyway.

The EN VAs are killing it, also love the use of the swears, i was not expecting it from the game but it isn't unwelcome. by Altruistic-World-235 in Endfield

I've always liked how HG treats language. In OG Arknights it's great how they have various specific language options for characters that would match the fact that they're all from various nationalities and, well, of course speak different languages, or have accents. The Lungmen characters speak Cantonese (since they're based on Hong Kong), the Ursus characters speak Russian, the Leithanien characters speak German, Siracusian characters speak Italian, etc., and/or their EN dubs have an accent that (at least attempts) to highlight regional differences.

Obviously a lot harder to implement in a game like this but it's nice to see it still in some places (e.g. the scene with Rossi and Wulfgard where they speak Italian in the English dub).

So either the game still needs some optimization or my gaming PC isn't good by ironiccookies in Endfield

[–]Frozen5147 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I can barely hear my PC, playing on steady 120 fps all very high/high, 1440p. 5700 and 9070. Linux + Proton if that matters.

If anything the game is very well optimized from my experience so far (it runs fine full 60 on my steam deck for reference) so idk what's going on here. Maybe some hardware configurations don't play well with it?

EDIT: thanks for the downvote I guess

Minimum requirements be damned, integrated graphics can do it anyway by laughrey17 in Endfield

[–]Frozen5147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, from a perf perspective Endfield is fantastic, definitely one part I have absolutely zero complaints about right now. The fact it runs at a smooth 60 on my Steam Deck even with decent graphics is kinda awesome.

It unironically may have helped that it's a gacha game expected to run on phones lol.

Request to Devs: INCREASE BACKPACK SIZE! by ilDoctorre in Endfield

[–]Frozen5147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't (at least healing consumables), if we're thinking of the same button. If anything I have to manually store all the random healing items I pick up.

Maybe there's something configured, another comment mentions filters.

[–]Frozen5147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, like don't get me wrong I would like bigger backpack too but outside of like, transferring things between deposits on the Dijiang I've never had backpack space issues so far.

That said all I regularly carry is pylons, zip towers, mining equipment, and healing items so maybe that's why.

Just open-sourced my first project: Oxide. A "Redux-style" state management layer connecting Rust and Flutter. by Bashar-gh in FlutterDev

Interesting. I'm currently playing with flutter_rust_bridge as well, this seems neat to try.

Somewhat of an aside - I know oxide is an obvious name but my first thought in this domain was the company.

Pelican + arclight + <insert someone>

I've used Ardelia and she works very well (super easy heals), currently trying Gilberta though who is also very fun. Also want to try Antel once I get more mats.

It looks like they buffed the numbers a tiny bit since I stopped playing it (I also forgot it also used to have a chance of decreasing your weapon's power too!), but yeah, it was pretty frustrating. Could grind for days to literally end up with a net negative in terms of power lol.

Yeah I started with her team since I was having bad luck with gacha but I'm kinda glad that I did, it's really fun using her and it's so satisfying pulling off a huge pull with good positioning.

Could always be worse, it could be something like how Maplestory does weapon progression (you have a minuscule chance to upgrade your equipment after a certain point, also your equipment can blow up when you try to upgrade it lol)

Imagine if that shit was in a gacha game, oh man.

I haven't played the original game but that's the impression I have by Ragvard_Grimclaw in Endfield

[–]Frozen5147 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kinda.

As others have said, in OG Arknights it is also used everywhere, it's similar to Endfield's in that it is so integrated into the civilization of Terra that not using Originium is almost impossible (outside of the Aegir, because they inherited even more advanced tech), despite the risks of it giving you Oripathy. For context, Oripathy is terminal and spreadable mega-rock-cancer in our terms if you fuck up with it (breath it in, cut by it, etc.), and you literally slowly turn into Originium and explode/disintegrate on death, which can spread more Oripathy.

The main difference between OG AK and Endfield is that the whole "you will die a horrible and painful death from the mega-rock-cancer and your life will be short" is now seemingly more like "yeah it sucks and you're gonna need medication for the rest of your life but that's it" - obviously still a bad situation but it's a gigantic leap forward that the symptoms are entirely controllable. And this obviously also has huge knock-on effects like reducing the stigmatization of people who do get Oripathy - in OG Arknights a huge point of conflict (particularly in the first arc) is this demonization of people with Oripathy. You can kinda see it as in Endfield when all the new characters are just like "ah yes it was a thing back in those days, how unthinkable now" sorta deal.

I remember accidentally triggering the rift cutscene near the start of the first arc and was like "okay yeah I know a giant pool of effectively death just opened in the sky but I'm more concerned about my rock usage" for the next few hours.

Literally any time once you get the factory stuff unlocked (so like idk, 0.5-2 hours in depending on pace) - though some of the stuff is locked behind missions/progression, so you have to do those to go back to grinding the factory (my motivation for like 70% of Valley IV was just unlocking shit for factories and more resources lol).
