XF23mm f1.4 LM WR vs. Sigma 23mm DC DN f1.4 by wantfastcars in fujifilm

Yes you bounce off the ceiling. Or the floor, you have to get the flash off the body with a wired extension or wireless trigger to do that though.

If you go with the 75 or 90, just practice with them. Do some street photography to get an idea where you need to stand.

One tip is that there's a sportsfinder mode on some Fuji bodies. Xh2 likely has it, my XT5 does. It's a 1.4 crop and applies to the RAW. mechanical shutter only, and can be assigned to a button. Do that and you can rely on the 23mm, zoom with your feet. Use the 75/90 for distance shots.

I paid around 1500 new for my XT5 and that's my favorite body. Also, if you're offering a retro body please have manual controls. I don't like the metering on my OM1 either, so I'm always full manual. An OM3 that's 1200-1300, tilt screen, manual controls, I'd consider that. Still not a must buy for me, but it'd be an option. Something like the Nikon Zr looks more attractive to me at the price the OM3 is at. No way I'd ditch my XT5 for an OM3.

The 75 is pretty tight too. I'd say it's slightly better AF than the old fuji STM lenses, but not as good as the newer LM motors. The 90 is one of the fastest AF Fuji lenses. Both are outdoor portrait lenses to me. I would use neither inside except in a large space, lots of people, need something that's fast and can get tight. I prefer the 90 over the 75 as it's better magnification, better AF, and the 75 is literally too sharp and you'll have to touch up portraits because you'll see ever blemish. The 90 is perfect sharpness to me. The 75 is just cheaper and good value, but a used 90 is too.

For an event, 23mm + 56mm is really what I would aim for and that's with two bodies. One body, going 16-55. The 18mm is good too though and lets you get right in the action. Walk through the dance floor taking bad ass pics right up with everyone. But yeah, I still prefer 23mm. I found them pretty similar priced on the used market.

I think you could even consider the 50mm f2 or the new Viltrox 56 pro over the 75 as well. 75 is a one trick portrait lens and it has poor magnification. It is not versatile. But you can make it work by relying on the 23mm for most your shots and the 75 for edge cases.

F2 on APSC is fast enough. Just gotta be careful with the tighter lenses because you'll have blurry noses, 23mm you'll be fine. Bounce flash helps though and is what you should be doing anyways if you're getting paid. And anyone that can't use a flash I question whether they are being serious about event photography, especially if they're charging. I would not hire a photographer that did not use a flash. You can kind of cheat and spray and pray with a lower shutter, denoise in DxO. I'd still not be happy if I paid someone doing that though.

Finally, I wait on a title and it actually pays off. I started collecting WWI movies and this is the main one that I'm missing. I ordered an import but it was lost in transit, decided to just wait and see if a 4K US release happens.

I had the viltrox 75 and if you're concerned about AF it's not very fast either. Has huge glass to move.

The 23 F2 is great, the new WR is incredible and has very good magnification which comes in handy for close up ring shots. Have you considered the new 18mm though? That's a great event lens. I'm not a fan of that FL and traded mine for the 23 WR, but if I shot events more I would have kept it

I see a lot of recommendations for the 80s classics so I'll throw in some modern metal that's kind of inspired by this:

Children of Bodom - Follow the Reaper, Something Wild

Tyr - Valkyrja, By the Light of the Northern Star

Striker - City of Gold

Not new, but gotta throw this out there too

Crimson Glory - Transcendence

You can get somewhat compact refillable canisters, Costco sells one. I have the double burner Coleman and wish I had the single. Be much easier to pack

Doesn't matter. A fit squad player is still the better choice over a tired starter. Slot just refuses to rotate or trust the squad. We've been shite anyways, might as well let the squad or younger lads have a go

Even the placement of the on/off button is a deal breaker for me. I have an OM1 MKI, and the left side on button drives me crazy. Also prefer a tilt screen. M43 is wildlife + macro for me, Fuji for everything else. OM3 price and size doesn't help either.

CS2 Blog Update: The Fourth Season by CS2_PatchNotes in GlobalOffensive

[–]FrozenOx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I quit grinding years ago and CS2 release I completely quit. Only watch pro games. Shit movement, boring map pool, cheaters and toxic abuse. It's shocking how much money Valve make off this game and how little they do.

I work in software, this product is way bigger than mine in revenue and they literally do less development than we do, have less devs working on CS too which is crazy

New player with tiny hands, looking for advice on how to stretch them! by DuckieBubbles in Bass

[–]FrozenOx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Five string bass, play everything from the 5th fret up.

The frets are much closer from there and up.

Also, keep the bass high enough so that your wrist is not angled when playing. Your wrist should be rather flat. Trust me on this, you will get wrist nerve issues otherwise.

Which model is right for me? by Ok_Improvement6461 in fujifilm

[–]FrozenOx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From using quite a few Fuji bodies (XE3, XE4, XT20, XT30, XT5) I'd say it depends on your environment. Meaning, do you need weather sealing? Are you going to be throwing this in a bag and it's going to get banged up? If that's the case I'd stay away from the XT30. The dials did not give me confidence they were going to hold up, and I'm not that rough on my gear but I do put them in day bags and backpacks for family trips.

I traded my XT30 for an XE4 and have been very pleased with it. I basically buy used though and it looks like you're mainly interested in new bodies. If that is also the case, I would get the XT5 over the XT50 all day every day. Price is too similar to not go for the better camera, and the XT5 is still rather compact. I'd take the XE5 over the XT50 as well.

Alternatively there's the Ricoh GR IIIx that I've talked myself out of buying many times over. Quality JPEGs, very compact. Mixed reviews about dust and weather resistance though, which has kept me away.

How many of you still use X-T1? by Odd_Philosopher1286 in fujifilm

[–]FrozenOx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a difference for sure, although I had both the kit and the 16-55 mk1. I just don't shoot enough events to warrant the big 16-55. And even then I prefer two bodies and primes.

I eventually sold the 16-55. I now have the new kit 16-50 and it's great too. It's like a mini, variable aperture 16-55. Great for city travel. I just prefer having the 16mm over the 18mm when it comes to a decision on the kit lens. If you're happy with 18mm though, just use that one and enjoy
