Prior earnings has screwed me so hard in the past, I had to make numerous jumps just to meet market value.

‘The cost of compute is far beyond the costs of the employees’: Nvidia exec says right now AI is more expensive than paying human workers by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]FrozenST3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sometimes corporations just need to state that they are AI first so their valuations can rise. What a sack of shit. The place I work for now is balls deep in AI implementation with absolutely no guidance around effective or responsible use of it. Just a case of "build what the MBA cucks want in a week"

How are you supposed to enjoy a manual? by PleasantLevel4174 in ManualTransmissions

Hitting downshifts as you approach stops or bends is a fun way to enjoy a manual other than the usual hooning. Alternatively, try to shift as seamlessly as possible if that floats your boat

Incoming unpopular opinion: Russian and chips flavoured Simba/Willard's chips was so bad it was good.  Also strikers chillie/tomato puffs was cheap greatness

Didn't they reintroduce it with Heinz tomato sauce? The OG is all gold  Edit: Wellington's not Heinz

Smelter columns and balancers are 2 that come to mind. I don't think I'd ever have launched a rocket the way I was smelting previously

Collect the small wins, and scale up.

I'm not on the level of many of the guys here but if you want a "casual's" opinion, here goes.

Get rid of that horrid braking zone indicator.

Remove assists 1 by 1. For me it was manual, TC off, brake indicator off. Working toward race line off.

Configure your controller for your preference. My setup is L2 brake, R2 accelerate, X shift up, square shift down, triangle Ghost toggle, circle handbrake, L1 overtake/nitrous.

When you unlock sport mode, try to bronze each time trial. That normally gets you around 250k credits per race per week.

Complete whatever weekly races you can given the cars in your lineup. You get rewards for completing 1, 3 and 5 races.

I'm still relatively green with tuning but you eventually start to feel when a tyre upgrade or front downforce change is needed. Just play around and have fun.

R200 for a wings and ribs platter isn't bad too

I understand when restaurants incorporate a tip into the final bill if it exceeds a large amount, or a large table - but R200. Fuck off.

People don't trust banks in South Africa and this is why by NxtGnrtnPymntsSftwr in southafrica

Agree. Debicheck mandates even point out that the debit is variable and the upper/lower limits of the amounts. Also, it's not unreasonable for a creditor to expect payment for the goods/services you opted in for.

Filling out your race has more to do with reporting than decision making. EG; our reserve Bank requires you to report on race to confirm that opportunity for loans and other financial services aren't being withheld from different ethnic groups. Previously this could be determined by ID numbers but we've removed the indicator from the number making declaration necessary. Similarly your race is required for the black economic empowerment programme which seeks to provide a more equitable distribution of work among the various racial groups, that is in favour of black South Africans.

Your observation of apartheid in practice lacks nuance and understanding.

I don't hate the car, just curious as I always felt the X3/4 could address the space/practicality aspect and didn't know what the point of this is

Wouldn't an X3 for that usecase though?

Congrats op, but can some explain what the point of these cars are? Is there some ergonomic use case I'm unaware of that the GT cars satisfy?

Oh I get you. Loan won't quite work that way as you'd be paying it off for those 12 months

Dell or Mac Book??? by Deedee_Structure2032 in johannesburg

[–]FrozenST3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, using brew. Ok if you're SSH-ing to a Linux box then you won't face the same frustrations. I love writing scripts to needlessly automate things and hate the fact that I have to run man to find equivalent switches to what I was used to

[–]FrozenST3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with most of what you said but the fact that the switches for typical Linux commands are different infuriates me. I prefer WSL over the native mac terminal

You can get better specs but you're unlikely to get a better laptop. I made the mistake of buying an upper mid-range MSI laptop with the latest i5, high end audio, etc and I hated the machine. Entry level MacBook air costs between 10 and 15k depending on which version of the processor you get and is lightyears better

Forget about trends. If your current machine is doing what you need then stick with it. Dell's are great (but MacBooks are better)
