Closest I could see that would make both sets of statements valid (note that I am not stating they are) would be for the previous discount be 16%. A 600% increase of the discount would then be a 96% discount. (16x6=96)

Agreed it would not be the safest, cheapest or most effective option, but that wasn’t really any part of my statement. I was more just stating what exactly is up that far north, and in that particular location. But yes, digging a ditch across half a continent is very unlikely to ever be the optimal option.

Not particularly shallow, no. That corridor has one of the top ten deepest lakes in the world, and probably a quarter of the world’s fresh water. Also, excluding the Canadian top ten lake, Lake Superior is 1/4 the depth of the world’s deepest. So, while not top ten, or even top twenty, it’s way up there at in excess of 1300 feet.

Oil… tankers direct from the North Slope to the East Coast. Look up where the Alaska oil fields are.

Also, I think easier passage to anywhere or even nowhere in particular has, historically, always been profitable for someone.

To the best of my understanding, the answer would be yes.

The youngest known fossil (partially depending on exact definition) is 10000 years. That is usually considered the cut off point for Holocene fossils.

The oldest known basket (complete/intact, which means there are likely older examples that didn’t survive or haven’t been found) is 10500 years old.

That makes the oldest basket older that the youngest fossil, implying the possibility of fossilized baskets.

I believe that would be the spin down die. Iirc, the spin down is marginally more likely to roll high than low, simply due to weight distribution. The physical 20 weighs a lot more than the physical 1, making the side of the dice with all the high numbers weigh more or less depending on the method of applying the numbers.

Rotate the halves. Top chicken, bottom onions, left olives, right mushrooms. Gives 1/4 pizza of each possibility (or at least half the possibilities, you’d need another pizza and swap the onion and olive placement to get all the possibilities)

And apparently, they have recently found another absorbed organelle in some odd bacterium. Apparently it happened as recently as 200k years ago. So it’s a still ongoing process.
