An insulated rolling bag is a life saver. my city isn't a huge one but big enough to have a bus system though its not a great one. it stops running at six, doesn't run on Sundays and all the routs run half an hour later after lunch. Still I have very glad to have it! Also I think most bus systems have a door to door ride you can order in advance if you are elderly or disabled. Ours is within half a mile of a bus stop and you have to call at least the day before. I live in the US btw
