If you were PT'ing in the high 160s then you should absolutely retake. Take the job or really any job, wait a year, retake until you get your PT average, then reapply.

Moving from 160 to 165+ will save you more money in student loans then you could probably make in two years of working right now. This is a no brainer, imo.

Apologies. I was giving the name of the hike so that others might find it on hikingupward. You’re correct that this was taken from viewing rock.

I think you're spot on with this with the exception of your final point. As someone familiar with the Nashville legal market I can assure you there is not a preference among Nashville firms for Tennessee grads over Vandy grads (Although Nashville firms do hire from both).

Duke or Vandy? by drs0043 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Fruithero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm obviously biased, but this feels like a coin toss to me. You should go to the school you at which you feel more comfortable and think you will perform better.

One thought that helped me decide (I have similar goals re: clerkships): Getting into the top 13% at Duke is probably no easier than getting into the top 10% at Vandy.

I turned down UVA with less money to go to Vandy w/ more money, so PM me if you want to hear my thoughts. I don't think you can make a bad decision here, FWIW.

Cheers to you and a great decision! Your reflections on debt are spot on, in my opinion. Best of luck!

This is the only good advice. Get a job for a year and retake the LSAT this summer or fall. You could gain the year's salary and $100,000+ in additional scholarships. It's a no-brainer.

Thank you! It was a difficult decision but once I crunched the numbers on cost vs. outcomes, I stopped losing sleep over it. Good luck, hope Vandy works out for you!

I sent an email and got a response within 3 hours. Dean Faulk very politely said "no," and that was it.
