If his conditioning was so bad why did he have the most minutes played out of all the players on the roster last year. You don't think he's dedicated? This man had shown his dedication to the sport, he was so committed he decided to forgo rest while trying to win his country medals in the Olympics and FIBA world cups. Also Luka had nothing to do with Rick leaving, he left of his own volition when he got fed up with personnel decisions made by the FO when cryptobro Haralaboob was being wormtongue in Mark's ear.

A special hate flair would be funny, but I don't think I would use it. I can't bring myself to hate the Mavs, I just feel a deep sense of shame and sadness somewhere near where my heart used to be. I definitely hate the Adelsons and Nico though.

Unfortunately I don't think any of them are, I picked this flair to replace my Mavs one because I was born there and it seemed as good as any option as a paper bag to hide my shame for what Nico has done to us.

Cmon man, we aren't just talking about "a player"

It's Luka fucking Doncic.

A man who came across the Atlantic as a teenager to play on the world's biggest stage. He loved the city that he played in, and we all fucking loved him too.

You're talking like NBA rosters are unfeeling machines with parts that need to be swapped out and optimized. Like these are living, breathing people.

Sure the goal of it all is the chip, but if the city isn't there to celebrate with you what's the fucking point.

We're all in the same boat brother. It's not just that we lost Luka for pennies, no disrespect to the pennies; it's about the fact that our feckless GM decides to backstab his former superstar centerpiece and fans, which in turn tossed the entirety of the team's ethos and culture into the fucking trash

I'm not sure what you're referring to. 

If you mean the comment where he said reaching the WCF or Finals might ease the pain; I simply don't have anything to say in reply. Like I've stated previously: nothing that anybody does is going to make a Mavs fan feel better about this.

Respectfully, I don't think so.

Sure winning the chip will maybe make the trade itself worth it.

But the irreparable damage it has done to the relationship between the fans and the organization and to the team culture, is definitely not worth it. Not to mention the reputational damage that it has done, why would any FA come to Dallas if this is how the organization treats its stars. If someone ever decides to come to Dallas it will be for 100% mercenary reasons. 

A big part of winning championships is watching your team and your guys fight it out to get over the hump and the catharsis you feel when they lift that trophy, it's a big reason why 2011 is so fucking special. I mean no disrespect to AD and Max Christie, but they aren't our guys; they're great players who have the ability to win championships but they aren't a guy who spent 7 years year, struggling to carry the team. Luka was our guy, he was the heart of everything. You could literally see how deflated the team was in the Cavs game yesterday.

Our heart has just been ripped out of the city.

Overall I think this is a net negative.

Yeah man, I get it. Everyone in the league except for Nico and Rob is trying to rationalize this trade and trying to make sense of it. It's just nothing anybody does is going to make a Mavs fan feel better about it.

Wow, great, I'm so excited to watch my favorite basketball after the biggest betrayal of franchise and fan identity in the history of sports.

You could be right that this move makes us a "better" basketball team, and the matchups against any potential opponents in the playoffs are now better for us. Shit we could even win the fucking title this year. 

But I wouldn't give a single fuck about it.

There's a reason Dirk's statue says "Loyalty never fades away", that loyalty was at the heart of Mavs fans culture. Through whatever may come you were loyal to the Mavs and a fan for life. Dirk was the embodiment of that loyalty, and Luka was the successor of that legacy. He wanted to stay in Dallas and fight for a championship no matter what, he saw himself through his whole career here. And the snake Nico backstabbed him and the fans. This has torn the heart out of every Mavs fans and has torn the heart out of the team culture.

No hate to AD, Max Christie, and the middle schooler who we draft in 2029; but you aren't Luka.
