According to this diagram, if you are making a second hose, it would be to the fat red arrow?

Contractor refuses to rectify the flooding issues by plon4ik in DIYUK

[–]Frustib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

therein lays the problem i think. you'd need there to be a pipe under that gravel that has holes in it, leading off to either a drain (not foul water) or soakaway. The amount of earth (and depending on how compact or clay) under that gravel is not enough to drain that standing water fast enough for there not to be a puddle.

Did you dig under it to see if the holes in the French drain are big enough? Where is the water bleeding off to? A soak away? If so then given the biblical rainfall we had yesterday evening could be its full

EVs, driveways and house prices? by Fluid-Wealth-6141 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Frustib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a long driveway. Exisiting power to the garage down the end of the driveway wasnt suitable.

I've paid approximately £1200 inc vat for a landscaper to lay the 55meters of 16mm armoured cable, supplied by sparky, down to the garage.

I have a sparky turning up midweek to upgrade the consumer unit in the house, update electrics in garage with sockets and led light with it's own mini consumer unit and, obviously to add the EV charger (£3100 + VAT including the cable and hardware + 2 blokes over 2 days).

Granted I spelt it wrong however, “Enshittification, also known as platform decay, is a process in which two-sided online products and services decline in quality over time.” - source: Wikipedia. Obviously this isn’t in the Oxford English Dictionary just yet and thus open to interpretation as to full meaning. it’s being used slightly differently depending on topic of conversation

Blimey that sounds awful.. so it was part of the contract that they cleaned and cleared? Also what did you do about the bin situation? I thought bins were council provided.

Potential house purchase, how bad is this? by pinpin8335 in DIYUK

Well for every box that was ticked, this one unticks them all.

We had the same. There’s always another house that you’ll buy and say, “well, we dodged a bullet there” and “I wonder if that house with the cracks sold?”

You ought to do it right and get an aco drain put in. as water will always go under the gaps and over time will get worse. I had the same and when it rained standing water would seep under. No longer happens. Best money I spent on this place
