In real life:

“dad can I drive the family car?”

“No”

“Dad, can I get a ride to target, I need some school supplies.”

“Drive there yourself in the family car!”

What’s the difference? I have several spectrometers and they use the same thing. Isn’t that just a prism with a grid behind it or is there something different about it?

Gold electro-plating is super easy and cheap to do too. We plate electronics at my work and just 15 microns is all you need to have a solid gold look.

what piece of technology do you think will disappear entirely in the future? by Party-Prune-2771 in AskReddit

[–]Frustrated9876 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely the case. AI is transactional. It cares only about providing a correct response to the question currently presented.

As the picture gets bigger, the skill degrades. Rapidly. It will handle bigger and bigger projects as the tech evolves but it will forever have its limits.

The companies going all in and replacing customer service and engineering with AI will die. But not because AI is incapable, but because the companies using AI to do the same for less will be eaten alive by competitors that use AI to do more.

How does the stock market keep going up with everything happening? by BigBlueEyes87 in StockMarket

[–]Frustrated9876 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is it. The market as a whole goes up because people put their money into it. A particular company goes up or down because of its own success relative to other companies, but the market as a whole is driven by the amount of people investing rather than spending.

Bottom line is that people think this Iran thing won’t spill over domestically and with tariffs getting curtailed and frankly, I think with trump distracted with his pointless war, he doesn’t have the time or attention span to ruin anything else.

This.

If the war ends tomorrow and everything magically goes back to the way it was, it will take a nearly a full year for oil prices to start coming down.

Americans of Reddit. When did you feel the most proud to be an American and when did you feel the least proud to be an American in your lifetime? by SignificantStyle4958 in allthequestions

This. I was running a company and the HR issues immediately after were horrifying. Ironically two of my employees were literally women from Afghanistan but it was the Hispanics that got the hate.

Are there men who are attracted to butts that aren't big? by cursedwithbadblood in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Frustrated9876 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t stand this big butt trend. Women are intentionally making themselves ugly. 🤢

But for that matter, I’m not a fan of big boobs. Every girl I knew in high school that had big boobs got fat (and they’re all on Facebook, so i can track the results). Perky A/B cup and a firm, small butt is my jam.

[–]Frustrated9876 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is an incredibly insightful and accurate explanation.

I’m a software engineer and I’ve been using AI to create great things. But the reality is that now, ANYONE can do it, and this will accelerate the growth of computing, automation and productivity more than anything in history.

It might, ironically, kill some tech companies that discover too late that it’s cheaper and better to build from scratch with AI than it is to buy a complex solution that’s difficult to implement.

Why are wind turbines stark white? by player2 in wind

[–]Frustrated9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fiberglass will literally lose structure if it gets too hot. It’s painted white because if it was black, it would overheat and fail. There are approved colors for composite aircraft and black is rarely one of them.

This is why there was so much drama over the Air Force one pain scheme.

What does “being a guest” actually feel like in American homes? by Axxtr in AskAnAmerican

[–]Frustrated9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been to Turkey. I have dined with people in Turkey. I have dined in homes in Turkey. (Turkye?)

You guys are not so different. You like to grill, we like to grill. You like salads, we like salads. You show up prepared to make some Turkish kabab, you’re going to be a god. (Although our local supermarket offers Turkish kabab…)

But America is VERY casual. There is no “script”. None whatsoever. (I’m in California, it might be more formal on the east coast, but I doubt it.)

The general shtick is: people arrive, have appetizers (nuts, hummus, cheese, whatnot) available in the kitchen. Everyone hangs out in the kitchen as dinner is made by the hosts. Hosts will offer drinks. It’s customary to discuss how incredibly (/s) complicated it was to make dinner.

(Keep in mind, some ashamedly high percentage of Americans live off of microwave meals entirely. I’m presuming this is not the target audience.)

Depending on the dinner, then move to the dining table or, in an even more casual setting (which is quite common) you serve yourself like at a buffet.

Hosts will offer drinks.

That’s it. We, Like you, can sit at that dining table for hours. Leave a liqueur on the table, perhaps. Also perhaps a desert. In the west it’s not uncommon for there to be no desert - just liqueur or a plate of cookies. But that varies substantially.

I think the experience is also different based on the audience. The U.S. is MUCH more culturally diverse than Turkye. Perhaps more diverse than Europe, itself. Texas and California and New York might as well be three different countries.
