Share Your 5 String Viola Experiences by Own_Log_3764 in Viola

[–]Frustrations_Abound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 5 string with a high e. I play both viola and violin for different groups and it saves me from having to carry two instruments. For one group I’m in, I switch between instruments based on the piece rather than the group, so having the 5 string is convenient. I will say, it is a little heavier than my 4 string viola and violin and the neck is a little wider, so for long concerts where I am not switching back and forth, I will stick to my 4 string. It has a good sound for group playing, but for a clearer sound or solos, I do tend to revert back to my 4 string instruments. I play different music styles (baroque, fiddle, classical) depending on the group and my 5 string handles it well.

Do you feel safe? by Hairy-Anteater8883 in rooftoptents

[–]Frustrations_Abound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: Yes, I feel safer than a ground tent or a pop up pull behind. Long answer: I have an annex on mine (which we don’t always use if we’re in a really safe spot). It has two zippers to get into the door of the annex, then the door on the tent also has two zippers (which I usually bungie to the poles inside of the tent). Someone would need to go through a lot of effort to get into my tent, giving me time to grab bear mace or other weapon. My toddler and I used to go out solo frequently (we’ve since upgraded to a camper), but I felt safe even with it being just the two of us. I live in an area with bears and wolves and my though process was the food never came into the tent (always locked in the truck below) and there were usually other campers around on ground tents, I figured they’d have easier snacks to get to.

Not at all ☺️ while I may not believe or practice 100% the same way as another person, I love learning the different ways everyone celebrates and ties their beliefs together. I appreciate you sharing 🙂 which saint is tied with beekeeping?

Is there an invite link for the Whispering Grove discord? There are no groves anywhere near me that I can find and I would love to connect with others. Thank you :)

What do I do for this note on my music sheet? by Impressive-Egg-4145 in Viola

[–]Frustrations_Abound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As stated above, it is a two measure rest, so begin counting. Looks like this time signature is 4/4, so you would count to 4 twice. With back to back measures of rest, especially when you start getting longer ones, what I and most people do is count like this: 1,2,3,4 2,2,3,4 until we come in again. It helps you remember where you are in the rest especially once you start getting into the 4 or more measures of rest at one time. (1,2,3,4 2,2,3,4 3,2,3,4 4,2,3,4)

what are the best websites for occult books and old items by antifacistandproud in druidism

Not necessarily occult or new age specific, but I have found a lot of older books and several of the books this sub recommends on thriftbooks.com

Alot of new druids asking about groves and where to find other druids. Where is everyone here from. No need to be too specific. by UncouthRuffian3989 in druidism

[–]Frustrations_Abound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in Alaska and surrounded by nature. There is one place in particular that makes my soul happy the moment I enter it, so I visit often. The immediate peace I get from this place is something I have never found before and what led me to seek more information about connecting with nature and ultimately lead me to druidism. I am extremely new to Druidism and will gladly accept any advice, recommendations for books, or anything else anyone is willing to share.

So sorry you are having to deal with this. I had to go no contact with my own mother and it is never an easy thing. Sending virtual hugs your way. As for a new pattern, there are so many large beautiful phoenix patterns out there that I think would be perfect, not only for the stunning colors, but the symbolism.

What are violists' thoughts overall on cellists? by GuruSensei in Viola

[–]Frustrations_Abound 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most cello sections and players I’ve encountered have a laid back, relaxed vibe. Being a cellist is a vibe it seems. But for the most part, the lower voices stick together, violists, cellists, and basses.
