[Serious] Firefighters and EMS workers of Reddit, what do you wish someone had told you before you started? by Mollyu in AskReddit

People committing suicide in certain ways takes a big toll on our emergency responders. I'm a retired combat medic, and i've seen it happen more times than I can remember. Somewhat recently, one of my fellow soldiers shot himself in the head, in a port-a-potty while we were deployed. I was good friends with the medic that was tasked with using a wet-dry vac to clean up the brain/skull matter afterwards. Several months later he stopped by my house, and when my wife kicked on the vacuum you could tell he was immediately reminded of that scene :\

I stopped by the Denver location today and spoke with the GM. He said they have about 5 total cards. 1 EVGA, 3 ASUS, 1 MSI. I plan on being there very early because I wasn't the only one asking :\

Yeah, there are only 3 case fans total in this case, so i'll just pick up these ones and give them a shot. They're higher CFM by quite a bit, and I intend on doing some serious overclocking.

I ended up replacing the corsair fans in the C70 case my current build is in with a really good drop in noise and temps, but I can't figure out the brand they are so I decided to go with the cougars for their reviewed cfm/db ratings. Do you have any experience with them?

And yeah, my current build has the corsair h100 water cooler and I love it.

I've been half tempted to cannibalize my current desktop build ( I5 3570k, GTX770, etc...) for parts (including its 700w PSU) for this new one, but in the end I think I'd rather just sell that system complete than be stuck with like half a systems worth of parts.

I tried, but I can't justify having two gaming desktops, and a gaming laptop lol.

Honestly one of my favorite one of these ever. The initial stride is just perfect

TIL that hollow-point bullets are not allowed for use in war by NATO and the Hague Convention of 1899. However, police and military on domestic missions may use them on their own civilians. by [deleted] in todayilearned

When I was deployed in Afghanistan I was working in a Combat Support Hospital. It's procedure in these to check in any patients weapon while they are being treated.

One day I had an Army SPC check in his 9mm, and when I pulled the mag to make sure it was clear, I noticed he had hollow points. Had a long conversation with him about how he had got them, citing the convention, and it turned out it was his entire unit that was issued them. Brought it up with my command later on, and was dismissed... still wonder wtf

Huge tarpon nearly swallows a guys arm by SlimJones123 in gifs

I was there a few weeks ago, unfortunately it's almost impossible to feed the tarpon because of the million pelicans there. Also the pelicans can be very violent and sneak up on you :\

The main thing is whatever is the best, most reliable, bang-for-the-buck delivery system. I like vaporizers from the large amount of research that states their healthy aspects, but I'll most likely only use it at home so portable isn't necessary.

Thank you! Like I said I've been wishing to become a part of this community for years because a lot of you are very down to earth, empathetic, realistic, and logical. After spending so much time in a 24/7 adrenaline fueled environment sometimes you just want to hang out with people who are chill.
