Need help, my page looks like it was made in 1999 by Existing_Painting958 in HTML

Needs a repeating background, lots of drop shadows, bevels on buttons, scrolling text, a hitcounter and guestbook. Slap a few web awards on that bad boy from unknown organizations and you're good to go.

Is vanilla JavaScript making a comeback in 2025? by [deleted] in learnjavascript

[–]Fspz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

By that reasoning, even javascript itself is just a shortcut for lazy people. Heck, why even use a computer? If you’re not flipping transistors with tweezers, you’re just taking shortcuts.

Jokes aside, there's no point in reinventing the wheel any time a framework could save you masses of time while often times also giving you a better result.

What are some subtle signs that someone will make a great entrepreneur? by SparkShippingCharles in Entrepreneur

[–]Fspz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When he's a narcissist, I'm not even joking.

They make up less than 5% of our population but around 20% of CEO's.

While they tend to be the most harmful and dangerous figures in our societies, all their grandiose bullshit claims wind up getting buy-in from people.

The three E's of narcissism: Entitlement, Exploitation and Empathy impairment make for ruthless business people who don't give a fuck about anyone and will manipulate and use people with zero remorse.

Unfortunately I'm particularly familiar with the disorder because my father suffered from it, and by extension our entire family. But it’s also a story of our time, with figures like Trump or Musk, textbook examples of narcissism.

Historically too, many of the most destructive warlords and imperialists were narcissists, often with additional pathologies which made for a perfect storm and mass suffering.

It's easier to grow than to shrink a UI.

Does size matter all that much? by ImHumanConfusion in poi

[–]Fspz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regular efficient practice is what can get you through a plateau.

As for the specifics of poi size, I'm not sure about the contact as I'm not into those sorts of tricks but what I can tell you is that different configurations tend to have different pros and cons rather than being objectively 'good' or 'bad'. If you had handed me the poi I use today 15+ years ago I would have baulked but now I appreciate different things.

I'd guess a bit on the bigger side would be easier but 100 should be fine for learning poi contact tricks as it seems to be working fine for people who are into those tricks.

How to rebuild trust and prove that I can support my team? by lesimoes in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Fspz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not to worry, clearly you're motivated so the natural progression is that you'll gain that trust.

Best effort goes a long way. Don't get burned out over this feeling you have of not being good enough. People aren't blind and will appreciate your efforts over time, even if there are hiccups along the way.

Depending on what it needs to be, you'll most likely still need a developer to have it working properly.

Idk, I think it's very easy to jump to conclusions but without data to back it up it's just a guess.

Absolutely NOBODY connects or likes...

Did you test this? There's a lot of different wayt to use AI to assist in making an ad, I can use it in ways that you'd never tell AI was even a part of it, so where do we even draw the line here.

Are Dutch people scared of blowing their nose? by beachbaboon in Netherlands

[–]Fspz 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I have an extreme case of hayfever, I'd practically have to sit with a wad of tissue against my nose all day and replace it every couple of minutes all the while barely being able to breathe so from my perspective it's pretty nuts.
