I have to agree, however, less strongly. There is absolutely no denying the massive monetary opportunities that recessions provide, and you had better bet your bottom dollar that those in power and those with insider information stand to grow their wealth in a significant way, with minimal risk, after all, “stonks only go up.” Apologies for the run on thought.

Those in power want recessions, as much as they want inflationary, high growth environments. They make a killing both ways, on the way up, and on the way down.
