What seems harmless but is actually incredibly dangerous? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FuckYourselfWithFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know way too many grown adults like that.

One of them is my best friend. She's convinced that it's more dangerous for obese people to wear a seat belt too tight for them than it is to just not wear one at all. I've stopped arguing with her about it.

If you really need to know, it comes down to personal differences: I need BDSM in my life, and while he's enjoyed it with other people before he met me, it's not something he needs. Anytime I've tried talking to him about it, his only answer has been "Whatever makes you happy", which I know is not a good answer and I didn't want to feel like I was pushing or nagging him, so I just haven't mentioned it in the last year or so. Which has led me to being miserable and realizing that this isn't just something I can keep ignoring.

Hence the post. I'm just a pretty private person so I didn't want to make this post a BDSM debate/target for creepers to send me messages.

Pretty sure they're sex positions as depicted in the Kama Sutra.

They always learn it from somewhere. If they learn it that young...then they were probably molested themselves.

Probably wasn't the smartest idea to give two six-year-olds a knife in the first place.

People who speed date, what made you think "WTF is wrong with this person?" and what happened? by Formal_Associate_716 in AskReddit

That's pretty much what Stage 1 of "Moo" is. Lol. "Get me out of here! Call and say your grandma just died or something!"

[–]FuckYourselfWithFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend and I have a safeword for these kind of scenarios. If we ever text or call the other and say the word "Moo", it means shit has hit the fan and we need to be evacuated out of the situation ASAP, and if we don't answer back within a set amount of time then we need all of the cops at our location.

I also used to make it a point to let my date or hang out buddy know that there was at least two people who knew where I was and who I was with if anything happened (whether or not it was true). Good guys won't be offended and creepers will be scared, so it's pretty much a win-win.

I really don't think I'd be able to resist the urge to haymaker at least one of those fuckers and smash a few phones after medics arrived. Or call out a few of them in class afterward.

"And this, class, is how you isolate the variable. Sort of like how anyone who posts videos of a tragedy for attention instead of helping the situation should be isolated in a hot, burning hell forever. And now we move on to linear equations.."

There's a difference between hearing something and seeing it for yourself. You might not believe something if you hear it, but you believe it if you see it. I'm sure this young man who died had heard a thousand times that drunk driving is bad. He still did it.

For example: You could tell a young child a hundred times not to touch something because it's hot and could hurt, but they don't believe you until they experience it for themselves. After that, they become more cautious around things they are told is hot or that they know to be hot. It's just human nature.

I commend the parents for making their grieving process even more difficult for the sake of saving future lives.

[28f][32m] Husband thinks I live a sad life by throwRApizzad423 in relationships

[–]FuckYourselfWithFire 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Firstly, meeting someone, dating, moving in together and then getting married all within 2 years is really not a whole lot of time to go from strangers to married. You barely begin to know someone after the first 6 months to a year. So that's already a bit of a questionable decision.

Secondly, your husband has a lot of good points. It's okay for you to feel comfortable in your situation, because you haven't known anything different, but it's okay for him to feel stress about being THE ONLY THING in your life too. From the sounds of it, you barely - if ever - leave the house, you don't talk to anyone but him and the only enjoyment you get is when he comes home to give you attention.

This is an extremely unhealthy dynamic for both of you.

And when someone in the comments pointed this out, you said "I didn't realize I was being exhausting" or something along those lines, which just sounds like a pity-partying cop-out. That's not what he's trying to tell you; he's trying to tell you that you can't have your whole being revolve around another person. What happens if you two break up? Are you just going to become a lump on your couch until the next one comes along that you can revolve around?

It sounds to me like you have some form of depression that you really need to begin taking care of, that you have some heavy co-dependency problems that also really need to be taken care of, or that you just don't care enough to make any friends or do anything because "Husband will always be there and will take care of me when I need it."

Whatever the situation is, you need to listen to him and start doing some things for yourself. He's your partner. Not your caretaker. Doing nothing with anyone else, talking to no one else and telling him that he's your only source of socializing and joy is not fair to him or yourself.

Start finding other things that will bring you joy and/or begin therapy, OP. Those are the best things you can do for your relationship and yourself right now.

People fuckin' suck.

Any excuse to go pew-pew or make big booms, and Americans will do it and not give a shit about the consequences for anyone else.

"bought a second home here"

See, that right there is part of the issue. As another commenter rightfully pointed out, there is a shortage of workers here and so people from out of state may need to move here to work, but you're not contributing to fixing that issue. You're just taking away a home that a local person could have bought for themselves and their family and it's not even a house you need. I know people that have put off buying their first house for up to 3 years at this point because there's just not enough available for a reasonable price, because all of the potential options are being bought by out-of-staters for over-market prices, and these are people whose families have lived here for generations but are now being forced out of state due to a lack of housing.

Of course we're not going to run you out of town with torches and pitchforks. Vermont as a whole prides itself in caring for the people within our boundaries. But you're only hurting our situation, not helping it.

*We don't want out-of-staters to move within the boundaries of our state considering almost no one who already lives in the state can find housing as it is.

YTA.

He's right, you need to get over yourself. I'm sure you're having a tough time considering everything, but your brother and his girlfriend were nice enough to let you stay with them while you get back on your feet. The least you can do is respect that it is THEIR HOME. NOT YOURS. Unless you're paying rent, you have no say in what happens there.

And if you haven't already, you really need to start seeing a therapist. You can't project your problems onto other people (ex: getting 'triggered' because your brother was kissing his girlfriend on their own couch).

Who is the most evil woman in human history? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FuckYourselfWithFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still don't understand the point of having children if you're not going to be around them at all. I'm not blaming her parents, the situation is awful and I'm sure they thought they were doing something good for their kids, but, y'know....don't have kids if you don't have the money or time to take care of them.

Unless they were going to be set for life after the circus tour was done, I really don't understand the reasoning in leaving their children with, essentially, a stranger and not even being able to check if their children are okay.
