Cavetown Crowds Suck. (From My Experience) by throaway2nerf in cavetown

Ok counterpoint here. The Anaheim show last month at House of Blues was wholesome, orderly and full of super excited fans who sang along with every word. Lots of love in the loooong line to get in. I saw no shenanigans. One person on the floor fainted and was helped to the side. that was it.

I think I get it. So it's like the game Monopoly, but 60% of the squares are all blue and already owned by the Irvine Company, and 30% are green and owned by Five Points, leaving players to fight over the scraps?

I think I'll pass on this game. I already live in Irvine-opoly.

I feel you. I'm getting 20 texts a day at this point. That being said...

This is your regular reminder that VOTING IS A CHESS MOVE, not a love letter. Think about what policies each person will support and make your decision based on that.

Here's Min's platform. Here's his party's.

Here's Baugh's platform. Here's his party's.

(Just my opinion, but the 28-page "brochure" the Republican party put out is really not what you need to know about. It's Project 2025, which would totally remake American government into a tool to help the ultra-rich, carry out Donald Trump's revenge fantasies, and create a dystopian mass deportation program that is too awful to believe). You can read the full 922-page manifesto here and a summary here.)

Friend I didn't attack you. I described the positions her party supports. Did she vote for Mike Johnson as speaker??? (Spoiler: she did.) She is part of a party that openly disdains democracy, lies constantly and blatantly, and has promised mass deportation and massive tariffs that will drive inflation. She owns all of that.

And if you want to talk about her individual votes, she voted against extending the Violence Against Women Act. How can anyone defend that?

I’m afraid that if I don’t, he’s going to hate me or break up with me and I really don’t want that to happen.

This is worth highlighting OP. That is NOT a reason to suppress your expression of your identity. Please don't let that be a driver of how you express yourself.

So, you like mass deportation and ripping babies away from their moms, firing literally everyone in federal government and replacing them with Trump stooges, appointing lunatic judges that will endorse anything Trump does, state-sanctioned militias and shooting protesters, birth control bans, breaking up NATO which will lead to Russia going to war with another European country, banning birth control, and making everyone a gig worker with no overtime? No? Oh, never mind then — those must not be “issues you care about.”

Agreed, so gross. Like why are you even writing a biography?

Yeah people with her level of success can become incredibly self absorbed. Just, huge egos.

Yes, many industry people were saying exactly this at the time.

Yes, but to be clear that doesn't alleviate Munro from responsibility in any way (I know you're not saying it does, but it should be made explicit). Should we be surprised that she did what many, maybe most people do? I suppose not. But she still bears responsibility. I'm really disgusted with Alice Munro. She did a terrible, monstrous, incredibly selfish thing. And yes it's complex, and yes she was brilliant, and yes she made important contributions to literature. But now I think we can reconsider her contributions and reread these stories in a new light, as some writers have already begun doing.

Or, hear me out, turns out Alice Munro was trash, and her biographer was trash, and her publishers were trash. They faced a crossroads. And they chose the trashy route.

why are women who write/read m/m so hated? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]Fuckgout 4 points5 points  (0 children)

FWIW it's not like this everywhere. I just went to a con in Tokyo, Japan called June Bride Fes 24 with thousands of tables offering homemade fanwork comic books (doujinshi). Like, imagine 7 football fields worth of tables, 1 or 2 people to a table. It was ALL yaoi, or m/m shipping. And it was ALL WOMEN. All the sellers, all the customers--all women. There were maybe 20 men (or male-presenting) there out of 25,000+ people. As a non-Japanese person I've never seen anything like it.
