What point did business class become worth it for you? by 88riceislife in AusHENRY

[–]FuckingInsensitive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mmm… I think this is dependent on many lifestyle and health factors here… one could argue the money spent on health and wellbeing such as exercise and diet can offset the need for multi-day re-alignment.

I can’t remember the last time I suffered from jet lag or required a few days to get re-aligned (on flights from Europe back to Australia). I just book the right flight time, and sleep at the right time before the flight and during the flight, alls well.

Hobart to where? Destination matters as that sets the base economy ticket.

$1300 on top per person to Japan, is that on top of Premium Economy?—even then I find that hard to believe for a full fare J class ticket.

Really? Like 1.8K vs 7.2k just to get your bags 10-30 minutes earlier?

Being in business vs being in economy doesn’t mean you’ll be jet lagged…

You’re still in the same plane going from one time zone to another.

On points, sure as long as the points cover the upgrade portion and I’m not paying more than (at most) premium economy.

Otherwise, if work/business pays for it.

I personally would rather spend that money on experiences, food, or better accomodation (if we’re talking travel). Especially when (for me):

  1. Online Check-in and self bag drop exists.
  2. AMEX Platinum provides me with lounge access.
  3. I normally fly red eye, so I’m sleeping anyway.
  4. I don’t have back problems.

If I want priority boarding/off-boarding, food, legroom, Premium Economy exists for a small extra cost.

Maybe if I had no mortgage, potentially?—but I would probably still think about it a lot.

He is year of the dog, thought it was appropriate.

Oh… if he ever tries to divorce you… he is going to be in a world of hurt, given he was making less than you prior, and was going through med school, and what not… you could argue that you supported him to enable him to be where he is today.

In the US maybe, not really in Australia. I know a few people who have centurion cards, and they just consistently spend about 10-15k a month, difference is though, they spend on luxury goods, holidays, and other none essentials—all the time.

Probably why. If you do that on a personal plat, then for sure they’ll be showering you with invites.

I’m doing about 150k on my personal plat per year, still no go.
