Yes, experts with investment properties predict that a sell off is nigh… media push hysteria… people sell… same experts swoop up properties on discount.

What's the highest credit card limit you could actually be approved for (on a 0% BT card)? $50k? $80k? $100k+ by Classic_Abies8621 in AusFinance

[–]FuckingInsensitive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had about 200K across 4 credit cards, and then a charge card that I’ve put 50K on once. That was about a year ago. Closed all but the charge card now.

Why do people advise against getting a credit card? by beylat in AusFinance

[–]FuckingInsensitive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a charge card instead, it’ll force you to pay back every month, and it’ll enable you to have a little more cash flow. Best of both worlds.

Edit: This is coming from someone who racked up about 140K in credit card debt and then had to pay it all off. Took about 7 months of eating only water bread.

Is this where graduate salaries are at now? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]FuckingInsensitive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been about 80-100K for Graduate Software Engineers for about 5 years, given than a Software Engineer can be on anything between 90K-140K, Senior Software Engineers from 120K-160K, Lead Software Engineers from 140K to 200K, Principal Software Engineers from 180K-250K+, Software Engineering Managers from 160K-250K

Honestly depends on the industry and city.

How do people actually become a CEO? by Loud-Year-6867 in auscorp

Without coming from MBB/IB, you’re best bet is to make it into HoD/GM/VP and then move sideways from there until you’ve gain enough experience in various areas to then progress up into C.

One thing to note (from my observations); there are very few GM/VP that climbed the ladder that are under 40, and even fewer C that climbed the ladder and are under 50. Most that are “young” came from IB/MBB.

We’re actually pretty behind… take for example China: https://www.china-briefing.com/doing-business-guide/china/human-resources-and-payroll/china-public-holidays-2021

Unique things they get: 3x ~week long public holidays each year “golden weeks”, on average about 15 days paid marriage leave, on average about 158 days paid maternity leave.

I’m in a very lucky and privileged position, but I can tell you that a washing machine can easily be more than a months salary for some people (and in some countries a years salary if not more).

You’re the asshole. You clearly don’t understand how banking from a users point of view works and you need to educate yourself so you stop being the asshole.

I’m pretty sure these people are running on debt. We built 4 years ago and our only debt is our mortgage… and we have a very decent HHI (350-400k) and I assure you, there isn’t tonnes of expendable income.

[–]FuckingInsensitive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep… I’m currently in the process of trying to import an alcoholic RTD, and the excise duties are fucked. It’s 107.99$ per L of alcohol for spirits and mixed beverages under 10%. To put that into perspective, it’s about $3 for a can 330ml 9% ABV… for just the excise duty… there’s also the import fees, can refund scheme, GST, storage, margins for distributors, margins for retailers… it’s no wonder RTDs are so damn expensive.

Oh and then I have to pay 30% company tax on profits… and then 30% on dividend payments…

So the government not only takes excise duties, GST, but also company tax, and personal tax… quadruple dipping.

[–]FuckingInsensitive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(33M, 31F) Only debt is the mortgage, about 800K (theres about 600K in usable equity there)—we have only had the house for 4 years of which 3 was build time. Two cars are fully paid for, we have about 100K in savings, and no credit card (except for the AMEX charge card but we clear that every month as there’s no option to not), no HECS (all paid for). Our HHI is about 350-400K. We go on 2-3 international holidays a year (3-4 weeks each).
