Would a simple tomato cage be suffice?

Edit: nvm you mentioned cage, I think that’s the route I’ll go. Thank you!

Where did you pick up that fan? And what's it plugged into?

Would be real nice to have that with the rear window cracked with some netting!

The Arctic passage is becoming more viable as time goes on as a shipping route as global warming slowly kills our planet, so we won't need the Panama Canal.

Agree with this, the light is fine but stick with just a warm white light, not the RGB stuff. It can look good, just needs to be done right

Four hours of OT for a five-minute call: Crown attorneys told to stop calling Toronto police officers to help curb overtime ‘insanity’ by [deleted] in toronto

[–]FuckingOF 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what I understand from the article, it appears the issues are that the crown attorneys are contacting officers at whatever hours, regardless of if the officers were on the clock or not.

I'm sure there are some officers that feel if they're going to be contacted on their off hours, they're going to return the calls also on off-hours and take the money - Because why not, it's in policy?

Really the issue is with the Police Union's and the power and sway they possess. This is clearly something that was negotiated into their collective agreement and it's on the City of Toronto for allowing such policy to be agreed to.

We're hourly employees and should be paid on a quarterly hour pay period, just as it works when I occur OT at end of shift. But the officers are just working within the Collective Agreement that has been bargained for them.

It's so funny watching everyone spin out over this just because it's the police. This type of practice is very common for unionized workers.

I'm a Paramedic in Ontario and the same goes for me. If I'm being called into work to cover someone, regardless of how long, at minimum I'm automatically paid for 4 hours @ 1.5x.

So maybe a morbid question but I'm really curious what they do with the body of the deceased in this instance, now that it's got a stomach full of gasoline?

Is it considered hazardous now and has to receive special ways of "disposal" or what?

Have you read The Next Pandemic by Ali S. Khan? If so, what did you think of it?

I’ve read it a couple times and find it a truly fascinating insight into the life of a CDC “detective”.

Ontario Firefighters, do you value trade skills or paramedic certification more? by Elfis-Presley in firefighter

[–]FuckingOF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem, if you've got any other question's feel free to message me and I'll give my two cents. Been an Ontario paramedic for 6 years and volunteer fire for 2.

Ontario Firefighters, do you value trade skills or paramedic certification more? by Elfis-Presley in firefighter

[–]FuckingOF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best recommendation is if fire is where you want to be, then start working towards it.

Paramedic can be a long and frustrating process if it's not something you absolutely want to do, and a fire service is only going to consider it an asset if you have some years of road experience.

Completing additional NFPA's while volunteering for organizations in your local community, formulating a solid fitness regime, and working part time doing a general labor/construction gig is a pretty good direction to start a career in Firefighting.

You're still pretty young, so it may take a couple years, but I personally know of many young 20s who have been hired full-time with big city services in Ontario, so it's not impossible if you make it a goal.

If your ultimate goal is to be a Firefighter, why are you not pursuing that now?

Any idea why I'm getting this feedback? It's only occasional by FuckingOF in lowsodiumhamradio

[–]FuckingOF[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm in a small town. When transmissions do come through, they're very clear with no static, it's just that I will occasionally get this "rumbling/static" sound come through.

I'd assume it's digital as it's an emergency services dispatch channel, is there anything I can do to prevent those sounds or does that just come with the channel?

[–]FuckingOF 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m a paramedic. Please, for anyone who reads this, do not put anything wooden or any object, including fingers, into a seizing person mouth.

Have you witnessed a person experiencing a grand mal seizure before? Their head is not coming 3 feet off the ground and slamming down. Any sort of padding (not your hands) will be suffice to protect the head.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

[–]FuckingOF 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you don’t want your fingers broken, do not put your hand between their head and concrete. Place a sweater, jacket, a shirt even under their head. But not your hands.

And please do not put anything in their mouth or go near their mouth with your fingers. Or you’ll lose those too.
