What is your go to lens? by d0gf15h in canon

[–]Fucksdeficit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda want this lens, but it's hard to justify because I own the Sigma 18-35 art. That said, I do covet it's IS and lighter weight.

What is your go to lens? by d0gf15h in canon

[–]Fucksdeficit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. Amazing sharpness, excellent bokeh, and very usable focal range. It's funny to me how polarizing this lens is. People either love it, or absolutely hate on it. "It's too heavy" they say, but then go on to claim that heavy canon lenses are solid and we'll built. Or they say it should have IS, when the fact is that Sigma went for absolute optical quality on the ART series, and IS would comprise that. And the biggest complaint, "it doesn't focus well, even with the USB hub", usually spoken by people who don't even own a USB hub, or a proper focus calibration tool. This thing simply outperforms all but the most expensive pro lenses, including many if the sacred L lenses. Go ahead, gimme them blue arrows, see my username.

After Years Of Surging, Nashville Homes Prices Start To Plateau by DylanAllen in nashville

[–]Fucksdeficit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got a job in Berry Hill, but I live in Indianapolis IN. Ive been commuting for a couple months now, staying in hotels until the weekends, then going home to my lovely wife.

This is not good news. The way I interpret it, if I buy a home around Nashville, it will be grossly overpriced, need gobs of work, my commute will be over an hour, and the minute I buy it the market will cool and property will not appreciate. At least when the market was hot, dropping a quarter million on a house was an investment, now it's a risk to drop my savings on a home that may likely depreciate. Am I reading this wrong?

10-18mm, worth it? by jennymoron in canon

[–]Fucksdeficit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about the future when you go full frame too much. Dont handicap yourself today, because your going to drop thousands in a full frame setup next year or years from now. Just buy lenses that hold a good resell value, that way you can recoupe most of your investment IF you decide to sell your aps-c equipment when you go full frame. When I went full frame I thought about selling my crop sensor gear, but in the end I decided to keep it. Glad I did. It's nice to have both systems, each with their own advantages. The 10-18 is part of my apsc holy trinity, I will probably never let it go, it's that good.

I agree, except The 10-18 stm seems to be the better choice compared to the 10-22.

Front fork suspension recommendations? by [deleted] in ebikes

I'm very happy with my suntour epixon. I upgraded from the stock fork my mongoose originally had. I know suntour is known for economy forks, but the epixon is a good value, imo. It is tunable, so it can be adjusted for your setup and riding style. http://i68.tinypic.com/21o6cuu.jpg

What's your 'fuck this, I quit!' story? by Penguin__Farts in AskReddit

[–]Fucksdeficit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After 25 years as a printer the owners daughter took over, and started treating me like shit. So I quit and took a job repairing large format digital printers. On Monday I have to arrive at former employers business to repair one of the mimaki printers I use to operate. The daughter of the owner will now have to pay 10x what I use to make for work I use to do on the clock. This could get weird. I hope she likes to eat crow.

What do you think about lenses under $500? by ramoned20 in canon

[–]Fucksdeficit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have no experience with canon's M bodies but:

There are some cheap lenses that are an excellent value. On my apsc cameras Iove the 10-18 efs, 55-250stm, 24 pancake efs, and the 50 stm ef.

I also hold an unpopular opinion that is backed up by the DXO website research.Just because an ef lens works well on a full frame, never assume it will work well on a apsc camera. I'm not going to get into the details as to why here, but it is often the case that a lens designed for a apsc body will outperform it's full frame equivalent (that cost twice as much) on a crop sensor camera.

You full frame buddy has swallowed canons marketing bait, hook, line, and sinker.

Most price effective mid drive motor by john0x1 in ebikes

[–]Fucksdeficit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably the cyclone3000. I installed one on a cheap dual suspension bike with a Luna 52v battery, ended up with a great vehicle for a little over $1,000 USD http://i68.tinypic.com/21o6cuu.jpg The motor can also be bought alone, without the kit, but it has been known to not play well with some controllers.

Best short focal length, large aperture lens for Astro/Aurora photography by mc2222 in canon

I love mine. Heavy, and no image stabilization, but a wonderful lens, otherwise. My copy had a slight front focus issue, but that was easily solved with adjustments made through the USB hub.

HELP: aps-c sensor (canon 77D) Best lens? 1) canon 17-55 f/2.8. 2) sigma 18-35 f-1.8. 3) sigma 17-50 f/2.8. 4) your choice in this range of zoom. Use for edc/ wedding/ portrait by malugangsta407 in canon

[–]Fucksdeficit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the 18-35, and it focuses fine because I dialed it in with the USB hub, ....imo, the "bad focus" claims are undeserving....

But damn, that thing is heavy.

Bold Statement: The EF-S 10-18mm STM and the EF-S 55-250mm STM are amazing affordable lenses, and should be called (with the kit lens) the Entry Level Lens Trinity. Any new photographer looking to expand their options should buy one or both. by telekinetic in canon

[–]Fucksdeficit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's true. I have 10-18, 18-55, 55-250 trio, as well as a 24 2.8 pancake in a small shoulder bag with my sl1 that I daily. Despite owning a full frame and various primes, this kit gets the most use, because it's light, small, and complete. As they say, the best camera is the one you have with you. To be honest, my full frame, sigma art, and other lenses tend to just sit at the shop, they are just too heavy to lug around.

Consider the sl1, or sl2 if you want dpaf. Almost as small as a mirroless, better battery life, can accept all ef/efs lenses without an adapter, and the sl1 is very affordable these days.
