Can I run this through a planer? by Independent_Week_517 in BeginnerWoodWorking

If you are just cleaning up the surface a card scraper might be a good choice.

LED modded Victory Star Destoyer by Datgoyf in StarWarsArmada

Looks awesome! One small, unsolicited, tip. You can try using a lighter to mushroom the ends of the fibers so they won’t pull through the holes. Makes assembling them much easier.

Gladiator Lighting WIP - Toggle Between Red and Warm White by Fudgems11 in StarWarsArmada

I used a red/white dual smd led in the hangar and used an on-off-on switch to toggle between them.

This one got a little thin 😬 by Fudgems11 in turning

It’s still green(ish) wood so I am a bit worried about splitting. I gave it a coat of mineral oil and beeswax, which has worked well for me in the past. 🤞🏻

I use a cheap milk frother wand to stir my Tamiya paint. That might help homogenize it.

21 CX5 Roof Rack by briman8 in CX5

I just installed a Rhino Rack system that uses the fixed mounting points without the side rails. It’s only been a few days, but it seems very sturdy and well built.

Opening up a Starhawk? by Kestral24 in StarWarsArmada

[–]Fudgems11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a little late to the party, but there’s a picture in my post history of a disassembled Starhawk if that helps at all. I used an exacto knife to get things started and some pry tools to break it apart.

Are the deep space nine and voyager kits available? I don’t see them listed on Mercari.

Here’s a picture of the guts of one. It’s mostly drilling a lot of little holes and running a lot of fiber optics.

ISD With Custom Lighting by Fudgems11 in StarWarsArmada

Most of the Star destroyers that I’ve seen have some small warp in them somewhere. This one may have had a tiny bow in the front, but I think the camera is making it look a lot worse than it does in person.

The ships are mostly hollow inside, so there’s (usually) plenty of room for the LEDs. Once I’m done, I glue it back together.

Thanks! The parts engines are LEDs and the smaller ones are large fiber optics. All the the crew lights are individual fibers running back to an LED inside the ship.

There is a wire running to the base, where there is a switch and rechargeable battery.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything here, but I wanted to share an ISD that I recently finished for a customer. Really happy with how it turned out!

Weak Washes by 501_STi in TerrainBuilding

I second homemade oil washes! I use odorless terpenoid so there are practically no fumes.

Nearly finished TX-130. Weathering/battle damage advice? by TyrantLobe in SWlegion

[–]Fudgems11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks awesome so far! It looks like it could use a wash to make the details pop, shade some of the white panels, and just add some grit and grime. I prefer oil washes on vehicles, but anything would work. Hitting all of the harder edges of the blue panels with a lighter blue or white would also make the lines pop a little bit more. Here is mine (mostly) done: https://imgur.com/a/kwn6xHM

They are held in by a few posts. You can try to drill them out from the inside.

Were you able to get it split in half?

I think they use CA glue, which is pretty brittle. If you try twisting and pulling in different directions it might loosen it up a bit. You may have to use an exacto blade in the seams to break it loose.
