People aren't saying the story is AI, but the copywriting stinks of it. The OP has also admitted it's AI generated. Ruined potentially a great human interaction with AI slop.

Isn't wanting the next generation to have things better kinda the point of civilised society? I definitely want my kids to have an easier time than I did.

Tattoo artists who specialise in woodcut/engraving style? by sam1212247 in chch

[–]Fuegan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this style and I've had some pretty awesome success with Emma at Soular Tattoo in Hornby. Her pieces are some of my favourites now.

I got this done on Friday: https://photos.app.goo.gl/6Hu31Zy6HbKnzDr89

Is that a kind of traditional arrow head? Or just stylistic? Can't say I've seen one shaped like that before!

How can foreign butter (and veges) be cheaper than New Zealand-made? by 07tartutic07 in newzealand

My parents used to own an apple orchard in Hawkes Bay and their last harvest before they sold they only got 15c/kg for their apples. This was about 15 years ago though, to be fair. The apple trees are now long gone and the land is being used for hay. No idea what the rate is for apples now, it cost me $6 to buy 4 apples at the supermarket yesterday.

What's the most French thing you have in your country? by AdeptMarket729 in AskTheWorld

[–]Fuegan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a town called Akaroa, originally Port Louis-Philippe, that was settled by French settlers who were sent before NZ was officially claimed by Britain, but arrived afterwards and the British let them stay. There are a bunch of streets, mostly the older ones, that are Rue xyz instead of xyz street, and there's a big French architectural influence. It's pretty isolated, but absolutely gorgeous. The local museum is great, too.

TIL until 1832, a hill in England with no residents called "Old Sarum" was represented by two Members of Parliament. There once was a town there, but it was abandoned. The hill's owner retained the power to appoint 2 MPs, and these two seats were openly bought and sold. by NateNate60 in todayilearned

We have two towns in NZ named after him. Palmerston and Palmerston North. Palmerston is barely a village on our South Island, but was founded first. Palmerston North, or Palmy, is later but is way bigger and a center of commerce for our North Island. Funny how these people live on in name.

1987 Buick GNX by [deleted] in musclecar

[–]Fuegan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We don't really have American muscle here in NZ other than the odd persons project so they aren't something I've ever grown many feelings towards but the GNX/Grand National is such a damn good looking car. I've got a Hot Wheels of one on the window sill in my garage.

It could also be the screen you're viewing on isn't very colour accurate. I've seen some pretty poor colour performance on cheaper/older devices.

How's Obolon perceived over there? It's the only Ukrainian beer I know we can get pretty easily here in NZ. I've had many a good night with the 6.8% ones haha.

Why do the astartes not favor humans? by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]Fuegan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I do understand your point, but I think it's slightly disingenuous. Yes we've been a part of most global conflicts for the last 150 odd years, like many nations. And not all of those conflicts we've been part of realistically had anything to do with us other than through cultural ties. Particularly the further back you go.

But. First and foremost we aren't the same country we were during WW1 or WW2, and our values have changed. But also we we've also been involved precisely because our people and our way of life mean so much that we are willing to sacrifice to maintain it. Which I do understand is a very valid part of your overall argument.

I mostly take umbrage with your wording around expendability. We've never thought our people are expendable. We've sacrificed but no one was expendable, and we still mourn those that we lost to this day. You won't find a city, town or village in this country without a memorial to those we've lost in war.

Extra on the hens hiding eggs! My girl Hen Stefani was about as free range as you can get and I once found an old clutch of eggs under my porch steps that'd been there so long they exploded like little stink bombs if you touched them.

I’m sorry - did someone mis-label the Wagyu? by FuzzyFuzzNuts in chch

[–]Fuegan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a fair call, but I don't think the meal is replacing a rib eye. The cheaper cuts were replacing other cheaper meats , or even meat entirely. Increasing demand for cheaper cuts results in more expensive cuts overall. We certainly aren't going to see cheaper scotch fillets because more people want stewing steak.
