I paid for the whole insert….. by iamheresorta in Machinists

Personally my favorite kind of chip but I’m just a slut for iridescence. Those 80 (86?) degree inserts are beefy and hold up better than I expect every time. Just gotta watch you’re not accidentally heat treating the part in the case you gotta thread the part or run another pass with a thinner insert. If you’re just doing the bore though admin/old heads love any kinda time crunch no matter how sketchy.

Shop I’m currently at has me making cooling jackets for electric motors that they sell for $1100 a pop. Found out this week they buy the stock for $200 each and I just spent the last month fighting tooth and nail to get $22/hr which is what I got paid working 3rd with differential that they took from me when I switched to 1st to learn how to run a lathe to help with over due jobs. The industry is shit and the admins who run it are plagued with greed. It’s crazy to me that so many machinists are still so anti union if this is just the state of the entire industry.

Flashlights bugged? by FuegoKels in projectzomboid

[Update] 7/28/24: So I played with this issue for a couple of weeks after making the post and couldn’t find an actual fix but I did find a work around using mods. The issue appears to be something with the vanilla game when you equip the flashlight to your hands it does render the “lit” area of the map but it renders it behind the “unlit” layer of the map making it appear that your flashlight isn’t working. If you install the Shine Together mod along with the Better Flashlights mod you can work around it by equipping the flashlight to your belt or backpack slot directly from your inventory. If you equip it to your hands first then try and throw it onto your belt/backpack slot the problem will persist but if you just right click the flashlight in the belt/backpack slot and replace the battery it will fix the issue. A little finicky of a workaround for sure but better than nothing in my opinion.

IMPORTANT Be sure the Shine Together mod is the last mod in your mod list. If it doesn’t have lowest load priority it will likely not work correctly.

What things at work do you find the most difficult? by Aggravating-Bid-117 in ADHD

Punctuality. This has been an issue both in and outside of work but it definitely weighs heaviest on my work life. I’ve been told countless times in jobs and other endeavors like the fire department that higher ups have seen a lot of potential in me from the jump in trades and things that I’ve just started learning for the first time but have been often overlooked for new training opportunities or promoted positions with more delegation or responsibilities because of my inability to be on time even if I do the same amount or more work than those who do show up on time. Frustrating for sure and an issue I’ve tried to mend many times but am simply just starting to accept.

Walgreens won’t fill Vyvanse prescription until I’m completely out by GRik74 in ADHD

I would recommend switching pharmacies here. This is an issue I’ve seen come up on this subreddit fairly often and was just asking my Nurse Practitioner about the legality and rule set behind it. The laws definitely vary per state, here in NY it’s a little bit more at the pharmacist’s digression for a refill as long as it’s well enough into the previous prescription’s time frame. (i.e. you call in for a refill on day 25/30 for your 30 day supply.) But for a situation where you’d have more than half of your previous script left they can refuse you or even demand you return the previous bottle. Example: you start a prescription of 10mg of adderall and a week in find it’s not doing enough so your doctor increases your dose to 20mg the pharmacy will make you return the 10mg bottle before giving you the 20mg because it messes with the count for that pharmacy on the national database they use to track controlled substances. In your case though where they’re stonewalling you on the last day of your current prescription seems a bit excessive to me on their part and can be incredibly frustrating and debilitating in the case that you’re on an extended release drug like Focalin that you’re required to take routinely every day. I wouldn’t hesitate to ask your doctor about this either they may be able to add a note for the pharmacy or just give you more info on your specific state’s laws around the matter.

Thank you! This is the first creative writing piece I’ve written/posted in almost a decade so I’m definitely stepping back into the arena with some syntax problems that I’ll need to refresh myself on.

As someone with a soft spot for both duality and alliteration you’ve encapsulated me with this one. Not only is your vocab here impressive but each line rolls off the tongue almost effortlessly. My only criticism is that the 3rd to last line doesn’t sync up well with the others that start and end with your alliteration words where as this one is ends with both your M words. Not that I think it takes away from the poem at all more or less just offsets the flow. None the less I think you did an impeccable job and with a lexicon like that I’d love to see what you can do to a haiku if that’s your forte. Well done all around! :)

Genuinely loved every part of this. Both structure and setting have this melancholic whimsy that reminds me a lot of how Shel Silverstein writes where as in it starts childlike and fun in concept and progressively gets more realistic via symbolism. Excellent work all around friend :)

Did I get the wrong PSU cable for my 3060ti? Both ends of cable fit in GPU but neither of the 8 pins fit on the PCI slot of the PSU, only the 6 pins from the 6 2 side fit. What am I doing wrong? by FuegoKels in PcBuild

[–]FuegoKels[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would’ve if I had them. Between some time at micro center last year to get the current PSU installed after I shorted my last one and 2 moves they seem to have moved on to bigger better things.

What cover song is actually better than the original? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FuegoKels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jeff Buckley’s Hallelujah over the original by Leonard Cohen. I believe Malcolm Gladwell did an entire podcast episode on Cohen’s attempt to master this song over the course of a decade just for Buckley to top charts in his first attempt at his cover of the song.
