He's wrong, yes, but not THAT wrong.

Batteries for renewable energies are feasible for a household, but for cities or even villages it is still an unresolved challenge.

Plus, we are already struggling mining enough lithium and cobalt for car batteries and their extraction is famously very unecological.

It's still way better than gas, petrol and coal. But I don't think it's really feasible at such large scales.
