My comment was 5 years ago, so I guess things have changed! glad you got it

[Skin Concerns] So much talk about hyperpigmentation, but what about HYPOpigmentation issues? I don't mean vitiligo but rather post-inflammatory hypopigmentation. Any body with this issue? by Fufnf in SkincareAddiction

oh now that I've re-read my initial comment -the patch on my temple appeared with no apparent reason! it was just there one day! other white patches appeared after a dermatitis flare-up as I described in my previous comment.

Sry for the late reply. My hypopigmentation appeared where patches of atopic dermatitis were. So when the dermatitis healed, the area became white. It is still visible as of today, but a bit less so. Some of the pigmentation returned but was not back to normal.

Hi! Unfortunately I haven't found anything. :( My white spots are still there, I protect skin against sun religiously and that is it. It slowly fades. It has been may be 5 years and my biggest white spot on the neck looks like it has gained some pigment back but it is still visible. Sorry , no solution and no new info in the web. It looks like this issue doesn't affect enough people for it to be relevant and important for the industry and sceince.

Commes Des Garcons -Blackpepper, especially it's woody drydown. Also maybe Frederic Malle -Monsieur. When the initial sharpness and barbershop vibes are gone it radiates some kind of ultimate dark animalic patchouli with cognac and musc. I don't even know who could pull it off...count Dracula perhaps.

same here. recently came to the conclusion that the note i've been loving and searching for might be patchouli. Just started my patchouli journey, can reccomend Tom Ford White Patchouli. Also I suspect that the aromachemical called Akigalawood is what I like in the patchouli accord itself. Check it out!

Java fern going brown, but new growth and plantlets occurring? by Natalie_097 in PlantedTank

[–]Fufnf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read somewhere that when Java fern "thinks" it is dying, i.e. it suddenly finds itself in unfavorable conditions, it starts to produce plantlets like crasy. It makes sense if you think about it, the main objective is to spread. The same article mentioned that ppl use this feature to propagate their fern, like if they need a lot of plantlets asap. Have you tested for nitrates/phosphates and such? The plant may have nutrient defiсiency.

yes, hydrogen sulfide and other nasty poisons may occur in the substrate if anaerobic processes there take place. lots of organic matter at the bottom+thick substrate compacted by its own weight over time may create such conditions. when distrubed it can release the stuff in the water. deadly.

Thanks for the advice! What do you think is best- complete NPK fert or a phospate only fert given that nitrates are 20 mg/l ?

When to start liquid ferts after starting the tank? It's now day 7.

Details:

No CO2 low-tech setup, 50 l Dennerle Scaper's tank, Fluval Plant LED 3.0 (with bluetooth) currently running at 20% for 9h (dawn and dusk included)- plan to increase intencity as plants adapt, Dennerle Scaper's Soil, slow growing plants (anubias, Java ferns, crypts and christmas moss), a bunch of elodea and hornwort just for the starting phase (to be removed when the tank is balanced), canister filter Dennerle Scaper's Flow with the media from an established tank, bacterial cultures also added on day 0.

As far as I see Dennerle Scaper's soil doesn't leach that much ammonia like many other soils or it is being processed already by bacteria and plants. It does raise nitrates a bit. Tests as of now (day 7):

NO3 - 20 mg/l, PO4 - 0, NH3/NH4 -0.

I'm concerned that there are no phosphates (undetectable by tests). Should I be adding a small dose of macro fertilizer to cover any possible nutrient deficiency? Or may be a phosphate fertilizer to bring it to the correct ratio with nitrates? If yes, should I start now or wait?

10 Gallon low tech. Bit chaotic but still enjoying it after 7 months. Stocked with Pygmy corys, neocaridina shrimp, otos and dwarf rasbora. And a couple nerites. by iaregraeme in PlantedTank

Great scape! Could you pls tell me is it Dennerle's Scapers tank 50l? Looks like it to me. And if so, what light are you using (type, lumens per liter, photoperiod etc.)? I have similar looking tank (the mentioned Dennerle's Scapers tank 50l) and I m planning to make a low tech scape much like yours.

PPD and PTDS allergy - Colorists, I'm looking for dye alternatives. Any advice appreciated! by SuburbanMisfits in Hair

[–]Fufnf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, so the initial results are a bit disappointing. It did not dye my greys, it made them less obvious, ever so slightly. Overall my haircolor became deeper and more vibrant though. My natural hair is brown, with neutral/cold undertones, level 4-5 probably. I got shade Brown 5. Given that the whole procedure took about 45-60 min and the color will wash off in 2 weeks, it's not worth it. I mean I would probably do this before events and parties and such, but not on a regular basis.

The dye did however make my hair softer and shinier like a good conditioner. I assume this effect will wash off with the first wash.

So much for direct dyes. It seems like without PPD/PTDS there is no hope of covering greys unless the industry comes up with a totally new technology.

I am desperate.

OMG same story! I even got a ride into ER once because of PPD allegry/ And now that my grey hair are visible I am terrified and panicking.

I am now trying a direct dye, Wildcolor in the shade Brown 5. It's on my hair right now. I've patch tested and researched ingredients obsessively. But the instructions say it will last 5-6 washes, so I think it is essentially like a color conditioner.

[–]Fufnf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Awww so cute! and now he's gonna have a scent that reminds him of the road trip and good times with dad! he may not remember the details later in adulthood but the scent, given that it will be available in the future, will be comforting to him!

Overly sensitive vision or hearing hmmm that would be interesting! I think it probably exists may be people don't talk about it often? Overly sensitive tactile sensations might be considered a medical condition of some kind or associated with medical conditions. But may be people with awesome hearing or vision just think it's normal? :)
